bumping up an old thread....

i was searching to see if i could find the answer to my question.
I just got called for jury duty and was wondering if being a full time college student is still a valid excuse to be excused from jury duty?

My friends and family had a little area where they could check school and just send in a schedule. Now that school portion on the summons form is gone. So, it makes me wonder if it is still a valid excuse. Thanks in advance for any help.

I got called a few years ago, and I called the number on the back and told them I was a college student. They said it didn't matter, and I should show up on the day of the summons (unless a test was being given).

When I was at the summons, the judge asked if anyone had any good reasons why we wouldn't be able to serve throughout the duration of the trial, I told the judge that I had a midterm on in a few days. The judge let me go right there.

I dunno if this differs county to county, but that was in Santa Barbara county.

Oh, and I also once got called for Jury duty when I was still registered at my parents address. Since I was far away (I forget what the exact distance is, but I think its 100 miles) all I had to do was fax a copy of my school schedule to get out of jury duty.
