I'm calling for Jury Duty (SF Policy) for a whole week, crossing my fingers and knocking on wood, hoping that I don't get chosen. Would ruin my Vegas plans.

I feel your pain. I had to report to for SF jury selection. On top of that, my boss made me come in to work later on that day!!

ok....

thanks for the support fellahs!

they offered a wallplug for free local dial-up access (to your own provider).

I went on a break at 10:00AM and hit a local bar...the old ho bartender then tells me they give the stiffest drinks to jurors!

so I order one of my usuals, a long island iced tea, easy ice, poured mean, with pineapple juice instead of sweat & sour...she hooks it up!

I report back, about to keel over in stomach pain since I hadn't eaten in the morning, and they tell us that there's a case in the afternoon, and that we should break for lunch, so I'm forced to run to McDonalds (I wasn't lovin' it...), and eat fast, then nap in my car...

OK THEN!

I get back, lucid as eva, and they tell us to hang tight for like 30 minutes while they prepare the courtroom.

We go in the courtroom, and guess what, the defendant is on trial for two misdemeanor charges of domestic battery against his wife and two children.

They start eliminating jurors, one guy can't hear, an iranian lady and a vietnamese man both claim to not understand the judge, and he tricks them with questions that prove they understand him perfectly, wasting our ****ing time...

One guy is eliminated because...he's the defendant's PASTOR at his church!

one by one, everyone has an excuse...some real, some BS...most got placed on different trials, which could have been longer than this 2-3 day trial.

I was supposed to be on the final panel when they disqualified me because I'm friends with several police officers, and good friends with a defense attorney...YAY!!!
