What's the best concert you've ever been to?
I've been to so many, but two that stand out are the first bfd concert I went to at shoreline when greenday was there, and the last one I went to at shoreline with blink 182 and weezer. That was a lot of fun parting out in the rain.
I also have to mention "stars and stripes weekend" at kellys mission rock in I think 2006 where I saw Bob sinclair, that was a sic show! that place was jumpin like I've never seen..

Girl Talk at the Fillmore was nothing but a big party - the crowd was allowed on stage.
Grizzly Bear at the Fillmore was probably the best show I've been to musically - 4 guys, 11 instruments.
Jamiroquai at the Wiltern is up there if only for absolute showmanship.

New Years Eve Grateful Dead late 70's early 80's (went to like 9 in a row). They would start around 8pm and give you breakfast the next morning as you were leaving. The sun would already be up.

I worked as a professional musician, and in radio for a long time.
The single greatest performance I've ever seen:
Ben Harper at a Channel 104.9 Up-Close at the Expression Center for New Media ~2003. He was only supposed to play for 20 min and leave. He was there playing, answering questions and talking to fans for almost 3 hours.
As far as normal paying shows
I saw Cake back in 1996 at the Cubberley Community Center. This was before they were famous at all (hence the community center). The show just floored me, I went and saw them again at The Great American Music Hall in SF a few months later and was blown away there too.

Wow.. Hard to pick but my fav: Pretty Girls Make Graves at Bottom of the Hill in SF, 11.21.2003. It was a great show, my favorite venue and the place and night that I met my wife. After that, Pixies at Coachella and then at the Greek Theatre just because I thought I would never get to see them. So many awesome shows though! Could go on and on. Great times.
easy- Beastie Boys in SF..... freaking amazing show, went through all their styles, Mixmaster Mike had his own set, Sabotage as the last encore, the place EXPLODED
second- Public Enemy w/ Blackalicious and Dilated Peoples @ the Filmore. Chuck D ROCKED IT even though he's like 50 years old. Amazing live band behind him.
third- The Roots at the Commodore in Vancouver BC. They came on, rocked it the entire time without even stopping for a freaking breath between songs. Freaking amazing band..
