E46's with SMG's have an Automatic mode.
The only M3 without an Auto was the E30 M3.

the E46 SMG doesn't have a torque converter. it has a hydraulically activated clutch, therefore it really isn't an automatic.
Europe didn't get the E36 M3 with an auto tranny, either.
So basically, the only M3 that ever came with an auto was really the US market E36 M3 with the 240hp engine, not the 321hp one that came in the Euros.

As for the Euro M3, I don't see what that has to do with this as we are in the US...

SMG ("Shift My Gears"/Sequential Manual Gearbox) in the E46 M3 isn't nearly as smooth as a real automatic, but it has an auto mode that works if ya gotta use it.

You do realize that Seans mom is buying a car in the US right?
since you feel you really need to prove yourself here i'll correct myself
The only M3 that did not come with a transmission that shifts gears for you without having to take any action is the E30 M3
Hows that for you...please don't go on about the euro thing b/c we arent really talkin about Euro M3's are we?...we are talkin about US Market M3's that his mom may potentially buy.
