Westbound on Steven's Creek - photo cop?

I was driving around Cupertino tonight.... (westbound on Steven's Creek to be exact) and went all the way to the end until it turned into a curving road up the foothills (I think it might be a private road). Well, it was dark and I wasn't particularly paying attention, but I suddenly got hit by a flash from a box on the side of the road.

Anyone know what that is? Is it a photo cop or is it a private security thing?

that thing that took a picture of you... that road leads up to a rock quarry.. the camera takes a pic if u are over 30 or 35mph... fun to stand right in front of it (doing dumb stuff) and have ur friends drive by.

Don't think so. I was driving by in my pickup, at about 30-35 mph, and it flashed me a few months ago. There is a sign that states "Speed Limit 35, Trucks 25" I think it just flashes everyone, and someone filters out the ones that are not trucks. Since there is the quarry at the end of that road, I imagine that they had a problem with trucks speeding through and put in the camera to discourage that. I never got anything in the mail and this was back in December.

A friend of mine used to live right near that light. According to her it flashes anytime you are over 25mph and is mainly used to catch speeding trucks (as stated above).

i take that road to get home pretty often.. specificlaly stevens canyon up to hwy 9.. ive never seen a box up there anywhere.
I also tend to take a spirited pace up there.

not sure about up by the quarry.. If you were on stevens canyon road or up in that area.. you should be fine.

I was "flashed" by that exact same camera (or at least a similar one in the same area) at the end of Stevens Creek a few years ago and never received a ticket. I think you should be fine.
