I totally argree on the 2 year enlistment

I love Andy's kind words. I needed people like Andy to modivate me when i was still in.

When i was in Damsdorf Germany in 2000 training with the Fallschirmjägerbataillon 313 I couldn't believe that they had to either serve 2 years in the service or do community service otherwise. Very good idea IMHO

 

You guys are hella dumb. It looks like were getting to see who this country can count on. 30 cowards and a couple patriots to save everybody.

And in case you idiots didn't always know, you've had to register with the selective service by age 18 for 20+ years.

 

^yup. Most european countrys have mandatory service when you turn 18. It's a common practice, otherwise these countries would have VERY small military forces.

You're right - it's two Democrats that are trying to get a bill passed requiring a service requirement similar to what Sisqocqk posted about Germany.

Maybe there should be a draft. That way politicians may think twice about starting an unjustified war, with the possibilty of things not working out as planned, and needing to send the voters and their children off to war.

The sadness of our military is that it must compel its soldiers to fight in wars that are sometimes not right or just.

But when you're in the military, you've got to answer the call to duty.

My Father was drafted into the civil service during Vietnam, my Uncle (RIP) served in WWII, and my Grandfather (RIP) served in WWI.

If I was drafted, I would serve. I have experience with different weapons systems, and am pretty damned good with small arms.
