i wonder what the difference would be on a smog machine between the stocker and the gutted stocker. i wonder if you could even tell once the car is warmed up.

Everything I've read is that the uppipe cat is for cold start emissions. I'm counting on that fact, I never want to mess with the uppipe again, and then every 2 years after that.

Hey dude, I'm not bashing your UP, I'm just being critical.
As far as bang for the buck and stock-look goes, a gutted stocker takes the cake as far as I'm concerned. Did you notice a pretty big difference in spool up time with the gutted pipe?

You hurt my uppipes feelings
Hhahaha no worries! I noticed a bit of a drop in spool up time, I think about 2800rpm I get full boost instead of like ~3200-3300..
But I did the DP at the same time so I can't say which gains are from where

Oh yeah, you can find uppipes on these boards for cheap. I still say that if you're willing to spend the money, you won't be disappointed by the APS unit. If you don't like that, and you still want to spend a bit of paper, go with the Perrin or PDE. If you want a good uppipe for cheap, go with the MPJ or Gruppe-S. They both have wonderful customer service. If you want something that will definitely pass smog, gut your stocker. Now can we please end this crappy thread.
