The newest episode wasn't too bad, but I did watch it after reading what everyone thought of it....

 

they should really change the name of the show.

people love the Top Gear name, but this is in no way living up to it.

 

Why does everyone one ***** like this show replaced the UK show? I like that fact I get to watch Top Gear twice a week now.
Okay the new show is new and has less of a budget, so what, let them work -ish- out. Season one TGUK wasn't worth writing home about.

As for this not living up to the name, how many seasons of TG-Australia or TG-Russia have you seen?

 

The bearded guy is a horrible interviewer and is very boring.

 

I actually liked this episode. Thought it was funny. The bicycles vs cr-z race was kinda stupid but I like that they cruised through SF.

 

Im not a fan of the new show....
It seems too fake. The people on the show try to be exactly like the British people. But thats the problem, British humor does not work in the US, its stupid.
Also, some of the races they do are super fake. I just watched the one when they were racing this new honda against mountain bikers in San Fran. SUPER FAKE

 

I think he did the new years call sign for 107.7 The Bone. I heard "You're rocking with The Bone" and went "OH GOD IT'S THE BEARDED GUY! NOOO!"

I just watched TGUK 1/1 again and I really enjoyed it. It was fun, funny, and not bad at all. I can see why Mr. Dawe was removed in favor of Mr. May, but I also had no real problem with his commentary and thought the car purchasing tips he offered were pretty cool.

And... People *****. Personally I think it is funny that most of the *****ing doesn't really make sense. It's just the usual meaningless *****ing. For example...

Really? British humor does not work in the US? What? Ever heard of this British show called Top Gear which is really popular in the US?

The people on the show are trying to be exactly like the British people? Really? One is an Italian from New York, another is a redneck from the south and the third is a short fellow who slides cars around for sport. I think they make this pretty clear with their actions, and the times that they have made this clear.

Bikes vs. a Hybrid in SF is fake... But the silly comparos they do in the UK show are OK with you? I think they even did one with kids on bikes versus a car in the UK show...

I did not watch the latest episode. Have to check it out. I personally feel that most people that are *****ing about this show would ***** about anything they did.

Anyway, whatever whatever. I enjoy the show so far and think the guys are doing a good job. I think that Adam Ferrara is the analogy to James May, someone who is enthusiastic about cars and offers a somewhat non-standard enthusiast point of view without having any real driving skill. We have all seen James May come up to speed with his driving. I look at Rutledge Wood as the analogy to Jeremy Clarkson of course without the zillion years of experience as an automotive journalist and Tanner seems to match Richard Hammond but only because he's the short guy.

The joking around between them is sometimes awkward, but they are getting they sea-legs and have a LOT to live up to with the reputation that TGUK has created.

One definite thing I can say is the cinematography on the US show is not as dynamic and exciting as on the UK show. Not sure what's up with that. I also find it odd that there is no communication between the shows, like, on the last TGUK show, they talked about the roots of NASCAR as well when they could have referred people to the US show or something. I dunno. Maybe they want to differentiate them.

I think the reason TGUS sucks is because they try to be the same but really they kinda halfass it and the lack of chemistry between the hosts doesn't help. Austrailia and Russia follow the format to a T but they still manage to get their own spin on it and the hosts seem to instantly work well with each other. US has none of that.
