Depending on power output AND driver type, we'll start off with 09 gear set.
Input shaft, bearings, synchros, gears, and seals are replaced.

Prices start at $3200 for complete job.
And if you do not believe Paul, which would be the sign of a moron, then listen to this. A local kid bought a WRX recently WITH 4TH GEAR ALREADY BLOWN. Actually traded a perfectly good 350z for it

Anyway instead of listening to us he drivers it without even trying to flush anything. 2nd is now gone... so he flushed it and is still driving it!! Eventually the tranny will fail catastrophically and he will destroy the car entirely.

If you are not launching or beating on the car hard, they are a great option. Check this thread for info (<<click me!!)

The second thing is more of an opinion, but a DCCD controller is a MUST. Ask those of us who have them Ordered several from jeff at DCCD.pro and he does great work with and is great to work with.

A lot of it comes down to your budget, ability an time to source parts and research the project, and whether you have the time/tools/location/knowledge to do a swap with some friends.
Yeah, the main reason I went with the 04 hubs/knuckles was so I could keep my 5x100 pattern. I think I had right at 4 grand in the conversion, but I sold my 4/2 pots and rear hubs/knuckles for like $950, the axles for a couple hundred. So really, my overall conversion was around 3 grand. Not bad in my opinion. The thing about the spec b axles is that they will bolt to the wrx hubs and knuckles, but he will still have to change his rear diff as he has the 3.7x rear gearing ratio. If he goes with an 04/05 6MT, the ratio is 3.9 which he will have to source a R160 out of an older legacy or go with the 06/07 6MT which is the 3.54 @1.1 ratio giving it an overall ratio of 3.90 that bolts to a 3.54 rear diff which he would have to get out of an 02-05 wrx. So really he has to change out the rear diff anyway.

Another thing IF you get an 04/05 6MT, swap the neutral position with your wrx one or your cruise control won't work. Learned this one the hard way.

The Spec B axles are for an R180, not an R160 Otherwise they would not be worth the trouble.

The JDM 6 speed is my favorite. The ratios just make better sense and don't leave big gaps like the usdm trannies. Of course that's even tougher to find

once you get the legacy running.....i'll have to start saving up for that 6 speed.....not sure how long that 5 speed will hold up.

I've always wanted to put the JDM 5th/6th gears in mine.

Shipping sucks, but you'll probably gonna have to try nasioc or ebay. I lucked out, the seller I bought mine from used freightquote.com and I was only charged $90 to ship my tranny from back east. Took 8 days to get though...
