Yeah shifts perfectly fine, drives fine, it's just that whining noise

Shifts fine though? That might not be your trans, might be your diff. Bad news, it costs about the same. When my WRX was whining like that, it was the center diff. Might be worth having a shop diagnose before you drop big funds on one thing and it turns out to be something else.

I just posted a review for TrackSpec Autosports in Fremont - seriously an awesome shop. They could definitely help you diagnose the issue then fix whatever the problem turns out to be.

Give them a call and ask for Jon - 1 (510) 403-1161

2 quarts redline HEAVYweight (the red stuff)

The motul is in there to keep the redline from foaming up as it gets hot. Works well, it gave me back some less "crunchy" shifts tell I can find the transmission I am looking for.

TY757VBAAB or if I can luck out big time a TY754VB1CA but that is a dream transmission made of unobtainum.
Why an RA trans with DCCD?

1)not too many have one
2)I love the close gear set
3)With the DCCD I can tweak the FXT just a tiny bit more, and get the rear to step out a little more in a turn and get the pig to stop understear a bit.

Should be able to get understeer pretty manageable without DCCD.

There is still the cool factor "I have a DCCD 4.444 LSD and you don't"

Should be price for installed. At 3k+, it doesn't make sense to rebuild a 5speed.
