Transmission issues

Hey guys! Here is my night..... I had been driving my WRX all Saturday and everything has been fine and dandy. I made a pit stop at the Target 2 miles from my house and pulled into my spot with no issues. As I was leaving I engaged my clutch pedal and BAM!! It stays stuck to the floor. I then pushed it back to the spot. Being dark and raining, I couldn't really see what was going on. I figured it was either my clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder. I get the car towed to my house and begin to pull my intercooler off to have a better look at what was going on. After further investigating, I see the push rod from the slave cylinder pushed all the way out with fluid under it. I go ahead and remove the slave and then the shift fork falls loosely in the bell housing. I look inside the bell housing and noticed the pivot ball has broken from the housing. Now I have to have the transmission removed and stud extracted from inside the bell housing as well as replace the slave. PITA!!!! I'm having to tow it to a local transmission shop to have it fixed tomorrow. A huge expense right before Christmas. Not fun! At least the tranny didn't break while I was on the freeway miles away from home. Will update tomorrow.

Cheers!

Crazy stuff, but like you said, at least it didn't happen while you were on the road. Good luck.

You might find you get a better deal and better warranty if you take it to a local Subaru specialist like GST, FW or RBMS.

I know that these shops have changed so many that they get it done right first time and don't charge too much.

Out of convenience I tool it to a local transmission shop. It's going to be a 24hr turn around. I stopped by on my lunch break today and they had everything pretty much ready to be installed. They've dealt with the same issue on other cars. I'm going to be glad to get back behind my wheel tomorrow. I've done the clutch myself and every other mod installed on my car. Just didn't have access to the same tools and all like I did last time.
