Tranny/Diff flush in the morning - what fluids?

Hey guys,
What fluids can I get locally so I can flush out my tranny/diff gear oil? I'm planning on going on a long road trip tomorrow afternoon and the 5th gear in my newly inherited 02 WRX seems to make a vibration when I go past 80MPH. I thought that I'd start with fluids first and see if that makes things better. Anyhow, looks like Motul is recommended but where can I get it locally for a good price? Kragen carries Mobil 1 and maybe Redline too but I would like to know what others have used with success and where to get it (approx. price would be helpful too).
Thanks!

For tranny fluid, I used non-synthetic 75w90 Stalube on my old 02 wrx wagon. For the rear diff I used Redline. I wouldn't use Redline in the tranny, you may develop grinding issues.

For my STi, I use Motul300 in the tranny and 90PA for the rear diff. Its very expensive but works well with the 6MT... not sure about the wrx 5MT. I think EQ Tuning carries it. You can also get it here:

they put....

I put redline in my sti tranny just cuz they didn;t charge me for it...... I woulnt reccommend it. Mornings it gets sticky...and hard to put in gear..... 5mph rolling and putting it into first.. ..... it may grind..... (good thing i drive like a granny)

OEM all the way... or scotty;s cocktail supposedly works good for minor synchro problems.......

If you want a really good quality fluid you have to try Swepco. It costs a little more but really helps smooth things out.

LIC motorsports in Novato stock it.

Stay away from Scotty's cocktail, a vendor here on i-club reported issues with it on failed transmissions.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone. I got my Motul and will give it a shot. Scuderia also carries a lot of the redline fluids as well in case anyone has a hard time getting them. Their Redline gear oil was around $9 a quart for the synthetic or shockproof of whatever it was.

hear good things about Motul, but from what i gather, lota "experts", incl ASE Subaru Master techs on here+elsewhere, rec sticking w/OEM Extra Gold in the WRX 5spd tranny+diff.
::
i ran Redline since 3500 miles until just recently when my bucket turned 30k. i went back to Extra S, and couldn't be more happy!

On the topic..

I've had my 2000 RS since 64k miles, now she is at 140k. I have never replaced the transmission or diff fluid since i've owned it, although I have always had good intentions too. I have no problems with the transmission. I have heard 'stories' that people replace their tranny fluid, and start noticing all sorts of problems changing gears, losing gears, etc.. It's like the old stuff was holding it all together. Is this just a myth, or am I doing more damage by not changing the fluid?

Changed out my fluids. I bought the car with 64K miles and gave it to my brother (which he didn't change out the fluids) and now it has 100K. In any case, I drained the fluids and they looked very clean but regardless I put in Motul fluid in both the transmission and also the rear diff. Drive it for a couple of miles and no noticeable difference. I guess my road trip will give me more time to assess the fluid change.

Hey, I just picked up 5 gallons of Subaru Extra-s 75w90, and have alot of extra if you want to pick some up. You'll need to bring a container.

Legacy GT peeps noticed an improvement in smoother gear shifts switching from redline to this Extra-s.

I can sell some for $8.50 a qt.
