My car is at MPJ right now getting the sti RA gearset put in, i cant wait to see what the difference is. in the end it this whole thing is going to cost me about 3200 including the rental car and trailer to tow it from sac to hayward. I will post the review on the gearset in the tranny forum when i get it back.

So a new tranny cost $5000 and a rebuild with the STiRA gearset cost $3200?
From your guys experience, are these costs about normal?
Has anyone rebuilt trannies themeselves or is this the kind of thing that requires factory tools/shims and a ton of time?
