Whenever my car is stopped i can hear a ticking.knocking noise coming from the motor... my car only has 500 miles on it... is that normal or should i take it to service to get it checked out... all stock still breaking in and havent taken it over 4k rpm... 07 sti...

most likely what your hearing is the injectors. Mine does the same thing from when I first got it until now. I thought it was something bad also. Had it checked out and they told me the noise was from the injectors and valetrain.

 

when you say stopped do u mean at idle or with the car off?

 

i mean as theres a red light and im just stopped idling...

 

it can be a bunch of things, everything from no big deal to turn the car off...the key question is does it go up with the RPM's, meaning when you rev the motor at lets say 3k RPM's or so does it get louder and consistent with the RPM's being higher? or does it stay the same?

and when you say tick/knock, these are 2 very different things. Ticking on a STi motor/heads is very common. Knocking is never normal under most any circumstances.

ic an hear the ticking up to about 1500 rpms then it kidna blends in im taking it to justin at capitol this friday to get it checked out... thanks for your guys help im really glad i found this place lots of friendly people herelol ...

 

good idea.

never hurts to just "make sure". It's more than likely just the heads/valvetrain/injectors...they can be a bit noiser on the STi's.

but making sure is key!
