Yep, he was just using the classic CHP on-ramp ambush like in the old days. They sit up there, spot you coming, hammer it so they slide up into your blind spot, pace you until you see them, then hit the lights. Before they had radar (1990 or so) this was the only way they could do a speed trap. That's part of why I have so much respect for CHP, because they do cool stuff like that instead of just sitting on the median eating donuts like troopers in 95% of the other states.

 

That's awesome, huck. Most of these huge SUVs and trucks think they own the road. Anyway, I just drove back from LA today in my wife's small SUV (RX300). A white minivan was going super fast and cutting everyone off (not very safe at all). I just let it go cuz I got my babies in the back and I sure wish he got nailed.

Sure enough, a CHP from opposite direction made a quick u-turn (one of these sections u-turn is possible) and nailed him. It just made my day as I cruising by...

please... that's like a slightly lifted wrx wagon... not an SUV...

 

Wagon, SUV, LUV (Lexus calls it Luxury Utility Vehicle), SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle - BMW etc.), car, or whatever it's called, I really don't care as long as it serves the family well. In the case of RX300, it does a good job.
