The story of the 11 baby ducks (TRUE STORY!!!)

Once upon a time there was a mama duck and 11 little ducklings. On a beautiful saturday afternoon, mother duck decided to take the kids for a walk. they were having fun following mom around and stuff. then mom turned around and all her little baby ducks disappeared. so mama duck started running around and flying around quaking all over the place to try and find her babies.

now I was at home watching some cart racing on the speed channel when my dad comes in and says that the mama duck that we saw earlier was missing her baby ducks. so I go and investigate.

I come to find that all 11 baby ducks had fallen down into a storm sewer. hmmmm, so what do we do? well i figure we go down there and get them so they don't die. but how do you get down there?

so i unbolt the drain cover thing so i have access to it....

and away I go...

right after i jumped in along came one baby duck....

all the others had disappeared though. so being the engineer that i am and since i know a lot about sewers (do a lot of sewer design at work) i find them about 100 feet away all cuddled up together at the base of another drain inlet.

however, the way the bolts were set up on this one I did not have the proper tools to get the cover off. so i thought, crap what do i do now? well, i didn't want the ducks to die, so i decided to go after them. so i went back to the original point of entry and crawled through a 24" storm drain about a 100 feet or so to the duckies. after about 20 minutes of trying to gather them up. since they kept running away from me (ducks can travel through sewers faster than people can crawl through them). i was able to hand most of the ducks up to my dad through the cover i wasn't able to get off. but i had to chase a couple back to where i went in and carry them with me as i crawled.

but the good news is that I got all 11 baby ducks

then i had the task of finding the mother and reuniting them, which took a little while but i did, so all the ducks were reunited with their mother and they all lived happily evar after.

The End.

That's really cool of you!

Ducks are great, family oriented animals. Did you know that the duck is the only other species on earth that stays with 1 mate for life?

I get sad when I see them try to cross the highway with the ducklings and get ran over...I have seen it a couple times here in the bay.

You did a good thing!

Bullish...it's too early for me to prove you wrong, but there are many bird species that are monogamous.
