Terrible Gas Mileage and Loud Noise from brakes

Gas mileage: I am getting about 10 miles per gallon and I don't know why. The car is an 07 STi with Stage 2 and Cobb reflash. This is even with babying the car and shifting below 2.5k, half of the driving is on the freeway, even with cruise control. Does anyone know why I am getting such terrible mileage?

Brakes: The car has 1700 miles on it, it is still new. I have no idea why it is making this noise as if the brakes need to be replaced. It sounds exactly like they need to be replaced but I know this is not the case. Does anyone know why it is making this loud piercing noise when I am braking like some old POS car?

crappy MPG here too

I drive a 05 STi with stage 2 from Cobb also. I get about 13~14 miles to the gallon, which is pretty bad too. As of the brakes........you better go get yours checked.

Maybe your brakes constantly have pressure applied and thus making the sound and decreasing your gas milage?

Don't know about the mileage. I get about 20mpg mostly on the highway with some canyons and street mixed in. STi brakes are notoriously squeaky, though.

First the gas mileage, im guessing check the oil and filter... or change your driving style.... STi's aren't renowned for thier preservation of gas, expecially if you boost.

Second the brakes - Do they squeek(scream) when they are used? or squeek all the time? If they are squeeking when used im guessing the pads aren't put on correctly OR lined up well. I know when my friend put brand new racing brakepads on his Evo8 they screamed like a ***** for a month or two til he wore them in..

flash your ecu back to stock if possible and see if that helps any.

are your brakes squeeling only when coming to a slow stop?

Yes, only when I'm coming to a stop.

It sounds to me like you may be dragging a shoe - calipers are not clearing the rotor.

This can be checked out anywhere, they can measure the clearance at all four corners they should all be approx the same.
