Oh jesus, take a joke.

I'm +1 human and 2 dogs. The human is slow enough unencumbered thanks to her tiny midget legs and the dogs are dogs so I cant trust them with anything important. As such, my load assumes that I am carrying everything and still setting the pace.

...but since I'm not planning on refighting the civil war, I dont need the Rambo levels of ammo and weapons you're promoting.

I've got 10days worth of food and water at full ration (18 at half ration), water purification gear, medical equipment, shelter, emergency shelter, backup socks, rope, etc... all under 50lb... and since I go to the gym with a 50lb vest on anyway, I know what my mobility and endurance is going to be. In fact its why I limit myself to 50.

sorry man, my sence of humor is at a all time low lately my bad for not getting it.

As to the dog(s), if they/the dog is big enough, you could always put a saddle bag set on him/her and load the dog with some food/water also. Thats what I have my dogs bags loaded out for. They carry their own food and water.

I would also add an NPA, Needle Decompression kit and chest seal (one could get away with using tape and a plastic bag for this). Some Fentanyl lollipops would be nice too.
You know ive been out of the game too long. I didnt even think about needle chest decompression.

I have next to my BOB a full med kit that a surgeon can pretty much conduct any surgury out of. I am short the good drugs but have access to them rapidly if all SHTF. I rotate stock on two boxes of 1000ml ringers and salene.

I know im not code3 and I dont really have good news on this but I think you will find any OTS first aid kit to be completely lacking.

I would start by asking what your first aid skills are.

I pack mine with what I know how to do, then a little of what I dont just in case a traveling partner is more preficient than I am or if it is life or death I can try.

I am fortunate however in that I have access to alot of good mil grade trauma stuff.

Emergency trauma bandages, tornequets, and then the basic band aids, alcohol prep, iodine, leave the burn cream at home.

You can add IV fluids and kits as well as a 12GA 3" needle for treating tension pnemothorax from there.

When I was my team medic the things I went through the most of was immodium AD, Ibuprofin, asprin and DayQuil/Nyquil LOL.

The list of whats in my Bug Out Medic bag is extensive but again my best advice would be pack what you know how to use.

I couldnt disagree more on this. Ever tried to do something when you have a nasty burn? It ****ing sucks. Burns are completely ****ing debilitating not to mention being a total cesspool so the 2-4oz extra weight in the bag is well worth it.

Just make sure you have the good ****. Anything with silver sulfadiazine is also anti bacterial/yeast so it can double as a topical antiseptic in your aid kit. The good **** will be at least 1% but no more than 1.5% and wiull have names like "Silvedine". The good **** comes in a blue tub with a white screw on lid

Sorry Im not a burn trauma specialist or anything but currently whats working is to cool the burn to stop flesh penetration and cover with a moist I.E. with water moist bandage to keep bacteria out. (Note not for Chemical burn)

I do however; completely agree with your second paragraph.

This thread is amazing. I haven't considered any potential for a breakdown of civilization.

I'm not a trauma specialist either, but we're talking about disaster scenarios so I'm just trying to apply common sense. How are you going to cool it if there is no power and your in the boonies? Are you going to use your potable water to irrigate the burn and make a wet bandage?

Using cream alone is far from a perfect solution but IMO its better than using your water on it.

Since we are talking about disaster scenarios if the burn is that bad we are probably looking at a "I love you man but you are THE WEAKEST LINK" scenario. Unfortunately the water consumption for the burned individual is going to increase significantly. If I were the burned individual I would probably ask you to kindly dispatch me so I dont bring down the rest of the group.

I will say as I agreed with your above post however for the little boo boo burn give me the cream.

This thread is so much win. Maybe we should start another survival thread because this one is about emergency tac vests. The other thread by Overbear is about bug out bags. Maybe we should start one about Just straight survival.

On that note anyone ever visit SurvivalBlog.com He has some really neat stuff on there. He is a retired major and has written a book called patriot. pretty good stuff relating to this topic.

LOL, I didn't intend for this thread to turn into such a huge thread and what not...but great!

My vest is already complete with what I feel is appropriate for ONLY ME. The vest is mainly intended to provide safety, and that is really it. All the main essentials, MREs, water filtration, medical supplies, etc., are all in the bugout bag.

Shayhan, thank you for being one of the few people who have replied to this thread in response to my questions about a possible emergency situation. I'm just curious is my last pouch should contain my mono/bino or put some medical supplies in it.

Already have a dump pouch that will go on my left thigh.

When I first got my dump pouch a while ago, I tried to see how big it was...I could fit my entire head in there! LOL!

I have a personal med pouch to be used on me that contains 2 CAT tournquets, 2 IPB or israeli pressure bandages, a needle for a needle chest decompression wrapped in a piece of plastic for sucking chest wound, and tape that is compatable or will stick to blood or a wet surface. The pouch is clearly marked with a cross.

I will post up pics later.
