Howdy folks. I appreciate all the feedback on my suspension questions, and I was going to wait on this, but - it's time to start gathering info. I need to do a 6spd swap, and wanted to get my "shopping list" together. I had planned to do this down the road, but due to some fascinating noises last night, I believe it's time to accelerate the process. Sadly this probably also means selling camera stuff and my home audio setup, but I had been thinking about that anyway.
So.. For a 2002 WRX, it seems like the "easiest" swap would be to find an early 2004 6spd with the stub-axles included. That said, could this also work with a later 6spd and later 2004 STi axles? For some reason I thought the distinction was when they went away from 5x100, but it looks like there was a transition mid 2004 MY.
ANyway, I know a few people have been through this before - so let me know what you know. Not looking to make DCCD live, though would be cool if that could work. Just want a cleanly installed 6spd that looks as stock as possible, in my 2002 sedan.

might also wanna kick around the idea of doing a jdm 6speed i think they kept the 5x100 till ver8 in japan and they are a little cheaper then us sti 6speeds only thing is the gears are shorter

There's a guy on eBay that sells sets for a good price. Mert just installed a kit into kamnewtons 06 wagon.

06-07 6 speed, shifter stuff, sti driveshaft, 05-07 wrx male front axles, sti flywheel and clutch, STI companion flange to mate sti driveshaft to rear diff.
06-07 6 speeds are 3.54 and so is your rear diff. Get the 05-07 wrx male axles to avoid any stub BS. Keep the seap cheap and get it in te car. You can do hubs/knuckles, brakes, wheels if 5x114, etc later.
06-07 6 speeds also have better synchros and are less prone to the 4th-5th grind, and probably havr less miles on em. I prefer the 6 but 07 is good if you go car bowling...

There are three "easy" routes:
1) 2004 since it's all 5x100
2) JDM since it's all 5x100
3) 2007 since it's 1.1 : 1 at the transfer case and need the same rear diff ratio, you can keep the entire WRX rear end.
I highly recommend the JDM gearing for the EJ205. Highly. Car is entirely different feeling with shorter gearing. WAY more fun. Shorter gearing helps fix the primary weakness with the 2.0L... lethargic off-boost torque.
text me when you want that ride for the Konis... I also have a 2.0L with short gearing, but I did it with a FXT tranny (4.44 final, other ratios the same as WRX.)

many ways to keep your 5x100 with a 6 speed, even easier if you do not like abs 
I highly recommend an 06+ 6 speed with dccdpro totally worth it!

I put a 2006 usdm 6 speed into my 04 wrx a couple of months back and kept my 5x100 setup.
I added stubs/seals into the transmission and it hooked up to my axles and kept the r160 in the rear. You will need an automatic driveshaft or one from dss made for the conversion. Im swapping my driveshaft to a carbon fiber one soon and you can have my auto one if come pick it up. You need a 6 speed clutch fork, 6 speed shifter linkage and 6 speed tranny mount also. If you want dccd, which i would recommend, go with dccd pro. You can install it later on also if you decide to add it.
