:rotfl: nice bump
Too late to bump this again?!?! Just had a horrible experience here and can't even begin to express my anger...
After all this time, my question is, WHY ARE THEY STILL IN BUSINESS????

Seriously dude you should share your experience. That is why this thread is here. You asked "why are they still in buisiness?" I ask, "why do people kepp going there to get screwed?" Makes no sense to me....
I just brought my new WRX in for the 7500 mile service and checkup. I had explicit questions about the warentee and if i could do the Snorkel delete modification. No one knew the answer. On top of that, my clutch is making a clicking and sometimes a squeeking sound when i disengage it, i asked 2 service people and they said its fine. Well, the car's clutch is starting to have some issues, and when i had asked DIRECTLY about it, i was told everything is fine. I dont like it when i pay $152.28 for a service check, to be told "Everything is fine" and have something not acting fine. PLUS i have a question - is it legal for you service technicians to "test drive" the cars they fix for 2+ Miles?
One of your technicians claimed - to my face - he did this. If this is illegal id like some feedback because im not to happy.
BTW my car has been acting up MORE since your dealership "Checked it".
Im wondering if my right were violated here, what course of action do i need to take?

Pull the snorkel put in an elbow. They'll never even know. Don't ever ask the service people, "if I do _____, will it void my warranty?" That's just not smart.

I would just like to thank this thread and all of its posters. This thread single handedly will keep me from coming into contact from anyone at Stevens Creek Subaru. Your bad experiences have not gone completely in vain.
Thanks thread, you're the best!!!

If you bring your vehicle to a dealership for service, and you don't want anyone "test-driving" your vehicle, whether it is for diagnostic purposes (i.e. to duplicate a concern/problem that you have), following repairs to ensure that all repairs performed were satisfactory, or following performance of scheduled maintenance to ensure that vehicle is performing properly, then you MUST tell this to the Service Advisor prior to him writing-up the Repair Order, and make sure that you're watching the Service Advisor while he's writing-up the Repair Order, to ensure that he actually puts this information in writing.
If you don't trust the Repair Facility that you bring your vehicle to, and you don't intend on going somewhere else for service anytime soon, you may want to write-down your "before" and "after" mileage for each service visit, and compare it to that listed on your Final Copy of the Repair Order.
If you still insist on bringing your vehicle to a Repair Facility that you don't trust, and have no plans of taking your vehicle somewhere else, then I recommend that you talk to both the facility's Service Manager and Shop Foreman, and insist on test-driving vehicle with the Shop Foreman, so that you won't have any doubts as to whether or not they will be able to "duplicate" your concern.
Good Luck,
David

So during this time your pretty much telling me to hawk the place im paying to service or "check" my vehicle? so wait a second, i pay them AND have to watch them and make sure they do THIER JOB. Can i just bring it to another better mentioned center for my checkups?
I dont know, im just a little frusterated, wouldnt you be if you payed someone and your car was worse than when you brought it in?

As far as Dealership Service goes, many people prefer bringing their vehicles to Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City, or Santa Cruz Subaru.
You may want to start doing some searching on this subject to find more information regarding peoples' preferred Dealer Service facilities.
You wouldn't be the first person to stop taking your vehicle to Stevens Creek Subaru's Service Department, and start taking it elsewhere.
Back to your situation at hand:
Did you pay them to perform scheduled maintenance on your vehicle, or to inspect your clutch concern? And what exactly do you mean by your "car is worse than when you brought it in"?
In regards to your clutch concern, it is not that uncommon that if at first the Service Department isn't able to duplicate your concern, that you may have to go on a test-drive with either a Technician or a Shop Foreman, to help them duplicate your concern and/or understand what you feel isn't working correctly with the vehicle.
As far as trust is concerned, I am merely recommending that you should actually pay some attention to some oft-overlooked details, and in general be a bit more educated about how the service process works.

Ok....
So my friend call about a 30k or 60k mile checkup for his Legacy...
Fremont Subaru quoted him $700...
He then called Steven's Creek Subaru and was quoted $900 for the same thing, THEN...
THEN!!! The guy on the phone said to my friend, but I'll give you a discount of $100 today and we can do it for $800...
WTF!?!?
