To those of us unable to wear black tomorrow, this is for Steve. Feel free to pass it onto others using an Apple computer, or more appropriately, a iPhone. Make it your background or screensaver.

"Pirates Of The Silicon Valley?".

Basing judgement off a low budget movie made for TV, especially such a rash judgement is disrespectful to everyone in this thread.

Everyone is now dumber for having read it.

I love that buying one product you didnt like and watching a movie qualifies someone as an expert on both style and the book of revelations.

Honestly, it's a shame Steve Jobs passed away, but why is everyone and their mother totally nut-riding him? Perhaps I'm asking this out of ignorance, since I don't own a single Apple product (although I have used a number of them and am familiar with their quality or sometimes lack thereof). No disrespect to the man, but it seems like everyone cares more about his passing than more-pressing issues like the state of our nation and economy. We're just consumers of his company's products; it's not like he's our dad or something.

Sigh trolls will troll. I would go so far to say that current silicon valley is a child of Steve Jobs. He is the golden standard for initiating and completing a successful startup.

If everyone focused the ****ty state of our economy and the fact that hundreds of thousands of americans are spread all over the world at risk of i.e.d.'s and other forms of dangerous weapons we'd all go ****ing crazy.

I mean seriously. How much effort does it take to figure that **** out. That's why you go on yahoo and it's filled full of B.S. about celebrities clothes and who dumped who.... distraction.

You should be questioning that more than this.

Bottom line... the man was a visionary and helped usher in a completely new form of technology... technologies. Did he invent, program, create them all. No. But he saw the benefit of putting them together. The ipod, iphone, itunes and the state of EVERY OS on the planet right now has a LOT to do with this man's ideas.

People are "on his nuts" just like they're "on the nuts" of every big name that dies. That's what people do.

But most of the people in this thread are fans of the products and the man.

You want to see how important he is go look at the stock prices for apple every time he leaves and comes back to the company over the years. Then watch what they do tomorrow.

ONE man.

There just aren't that many people like him on the planet. People willing to think outside of the box and actually go after their dreams and ideas. He will be a HUGE HUGE loss in the world of tech world wide. Not just in apple.

clear?

Truly junk for the masses.

I only regret that I purchased a single Apple product - an Ipod shortly after they were first released. It was a trap. Dumped it on CL as fast as I could and I won't ever go back.

I already know most won't agree with the sentiments above but think about it - the guy's signature look was a mock turtleneck sweater!!! Clearly a foretaste of the Anti-Christ if there ever was one.
You're a ****ing moron. I love people that watch a movie with a LOPSIDED point of view and think they know everything about a person and/or product.

You want junk for the masses... purchase anything that runs off a microsoft based OS or for one. The entire microsoft office package is utter **** and even those that use them all the time (like me) know that. The only reason they are what they are is because Gates is a true genius. He positioned the microsoft platform as the backbone of corporate america. Rule by numbers... not quality. Now would I say rot in hell gates because I don't like his product... nope.

You clearly have ZERO clue about apple's pricing. Did they use to be super high priced... yup. They had a VERY small percentage of the market and they catered to it with a specific style of equipment and software. Those that needed it, used it... love it. Those that needed internet, number crunching, email word machines were just fine with PC. The only reason there are HUGE PC junkies out there is because of the adaptability and home user build opportunities for the gaming community. That's their true nitch. Try building one of those and tell me it's cheap. You want overpriced garbage... build a DELL.

Take any Mac product at the moment and build something that performs equally as well on any PC platform and the apple is usually cheaper.

Do they make a $600 **** box lap top. Nope. Why should they? No one wants apples for that.

I still have a version 1 ipod. Can't be that ****ty if it's still doing what it was designed to do and doing it well.

Seriously. ****ing moron.

Seriously. I am ****ing irritated right now.

Choku... not really a needed question but my anger is not directed at you. I'm sure you figured out all that **** all on your own. My frustration is with Joe.

Joe250. You've got to be the most ignorant O.G. member I've seen on the boards. Maybe you should go back in to hibernation. Rot in hell? Really? WTF? Get an educated opinion before you slam someone.

Not sure if you've actually MET Steve Jobs... I haven't. But I have been around some of his circle and just like anyone in power (have haters) he had haters. But to a person that I know that has actually spent time with him... they respect him. Same with Woz. I have met Woz. Actually watch the Red Hot show from his box once. Very cool group of "hippies." If it wasn't for those "hippies" you'd still have a brick for a cell phone if you had one at all.

Watch the commercial apple made in 1987 and tell me they were't visionaries.
