State Smog Referee Question
I was wondering if anyone with an aftermarket Up pipe has gone to the state ref for a smog check. I put my stock DP back on but not my UP, is that gonna be a problem? I'm pretty sure i will pass the smog test, but I am worried about passing the visual.

from my experience in fremont, they have diagrams if your engine. in that diagram is picture of the up pipe with a cat on it. if your up pipe doesnt have a cat on it, its gonna be a problem.
it not only the ref that checks your car out, he usually has two or three students in training looking at your car.

I passed my RS>WRX conversion at the Alameda state ref with a Helix uppipe..... didn't have to pay anyone off lol. The guy browsed my engine bay for like 2min, even looked at my turbo and near the uppipe but probably didn't know what it was. Other than the uppipe I just had a ic y-pipe and crank pulley on my car, passed with flying colors. Make sure you have your EGT in the uppipe and not be using the resistor mod for it. When you show up on time for your appointment leave your car running till they test it. I had to wait 20min but I just left it on till they were ready. Go to the Alameda state ref its a longer drive but much less hassle than other places I've heard of.
