State referee sticker
So I'm getting my swap checked on tuesday at the 'ol referee.
2007 Wrx engine inside a 2001 Impreza 2.5rs
I have a 3" catback (5zigen miracle fireball) that has two resonators and isn't retarded loud, and everthing else is stock *******; passed smog with aplomb.
Think I'll still get the sticker?

Just put a stock one on there when you go to the ref just to be safe. Its gonna be more of a hassle if you have to return twice. I went into the ref with my swap w/ catless uppipe and stock tbe, then few months later threw on a 3'' tbe.

well, I have a stock setup but it's all cut in pieces and bent up. If only I had a welder.
luckily the ref station is ten minutes from my house.....and I'm unemployed.

When I smogged I had catback no silencer and he said all good. But Ref may be more tentative. I say if it is under 95db like the greddy 50 state legal exhausts, you good

Update:
State ref doesn't care about catback exhausts. What they do care about is emissions, and how.
I spent a good ten minutes trying to prove that the 2007 WRX uses a K line and not CANBUS. I guess that the countless hours I spent troubleshooting ecm connectivity wouldn't give me any credibility on the subject. This is a huge point of contention for engine swaps as a CANBUS swap needs every module, down to the body harness.
I left most of the 2007 harness out, so it ended up with no sticker being awarded today.
Luckily I emailed the ref a very informative message that cleared up the issue, and am scheduled for next tuesday with no fear of catback haters. Altogether the referee is way nicer than I thought.
