"(1) By September 1, 2010, all automotive service providers are
required to:
(A) check and inflate each vehicle’s tires to the recommended
tire pressure rating, with air or nitrogen, as appropriate, at
the time of performing any automotive maintenance or repair
service;"
"4) Customers with vehicle tires inflated with nitrogen gas are subject
to the requirements in subsection (d)(1)(A-E), but may refuse the
inflation portion of the service if a nitrogen inflation system is not
available at the time of the service."
"(5) A customer may decline the check and inflate service if the
customer affirms one of the following:
(A) He or she has performed (or had performed) a tire pressure
check and inflate service within the last 30 days, or
(B) He or she will perform (or will have performed) a tire
pressure check and inflate service within the next 7 days."
I'm not really seeing what the issue is here. As the customer you have the right to say "No Thanks, I will fill my own tires within 7 Days from now." Also, this seems to only pertain to Under-Inflated Tires and Not Over-Inflated Tires.

Whenever I take my car to LIC for anything they always check my oil & coolant levels and tire pressures. It's called looking out for your customers. I'm not sure why this is a big issue?

why is this a bad thing? when you have the right psi in a tire you get better mpg's. Also is gonna be something they check when you go in for a standard oil change. Just like jiffy lube does right now, clean you windows and check tires, and washer fill up

“Under Inflated Tire” means a tire that is one pound per square inch
(psi) or more below the recommended tire pressure rating.
(psi) or more below the recommended tire pressure rating.
But how can I determine to +/- 1psi when the law says my gage only has to have a tolerance of +/-2 psi??
perform the tire pressure service using a tire pressure gauge
with a total permissible error no greater than ± two (2)
pounds per square inch (psi)
with a total permissible error no greater than ± two (2)
pounds per square inch (psi)
I must now document that I check AND adjusted your pressure.
Failure to do so is a crime.
But more importantly, you the car owner may be committing a crime:
A customer may decline the check and inflate service if the
customer affirms one of the following:
(A) He or she has performed (or had performed) a tire pressure
check and inflate service within the last 30 days, or
(B) He or she will perform (or will have performed) a tire

Damn you're a badass. I thought I was a hardass by just taking my old tires and tossing them in the dumpster to avoid that extra disposal fee.
Sounds like another Subie shop drama in the making.
Customer - "Why did you charge me another hour for labor after the fact?"
Shop Monkey - "I had to check your tire pressure, it's the law and I have to follow it, so pay up".
Customer - "I'm going to post up on i-club about how you rip off your customers!"
Shop Monkey - "That's fine, just stay off my Yelp, nobody care about shop reputations on I-club"

ahah yeah I got charged an extra fee to use my credit card at Eq Tuning last year, since they thought it'd be o.k. to defer that responsibility upon the customer.
As far as this law goes it's going to require all shops to have a nitrogen tank service to keep those running the gas to not complain/take business elsewhere. Complete B.S I bet airgas has a stake in this bill.
That being said, this bill is complete garbage considering the emissions major business creates, and goddamit **********ing piece of ****s the aggregate ****ing consumer car base won't even touch industry.
This is like cutting off your toes because they contracted athlete's foot, instead of using fuicking tinactin dammmmmmmmmmmiiiittttttttttt aHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
