Disclaimer: I play zerg nowadays instead of random when I started, so I'm 100% biased. LOL

Terrans have sooooo many openings and strats, it's not even funny. As if that wasn't bad enough, it's very easy for Terran to switch to any army composition they like, especially if they opened with 1-1-1 rax-fact-port.

I do agree though that MMM is the easiest and most common.

Reaper openings are also getting more and more common nowadays. (Luckily for me, that gets shut down as soon as speedlings are out)

Helion harass. Banshee harass. Viking harass on Overlords.

Seige and/or Thor drops. Siege+Viking. BC+Thor. Seige+Marauder. Thor+Marauder.

I'd say the only Terran weakness would be mobility of their armies, or lack thereof.

Protoss.....lately I've been seeing a lot of void ray action. Back when I used to play random, I almost always go ground-heavy if I get protoss -- chargelots and colossi with sentry and templar support. Phoenix if in need of air support. Blink stalkers if going against cliff-abuse-loving terrans.

Don't like stalkers that much though - gets melted by marauders, tanks, roaches, mutas...

Zerg....I learned my lesson when someone 6pool-cheesed me. Now I scout earlier when I have zerg opponents. Wall-off for Terrans and Protoss. Spine crawler and drone micro for zergs.

I also like roaches, but tanks and marauders demolish them very easily. At that point, my only chance of winning would be if I can hold the Terran off until I get broodlords.

99% of terrans go MMM and eventually roll out tanks and thors

Protoss is usually stalkers and eventually colossus, void rays are viable.

Zerg usually just zergling rush. I prefer roaches. I had this funny game last night where we were playing against a few terrans and they had build depot walls and their entrances. I researched the abilty to move while burrowed and brought in like 15 roaches when some guy when to hit me across the map and raped his base before he got back. then I just defended all the minerals until he was broke.

Yeah my typical strat for zerg is roachs to muts. I always get all tech done for roaches. I love how they can move while burrowed.

I play random and do 3s with some friends. They always want to rush but it almost always never works because everyone we play (platinum) is terran and walls off for MMM. I just wish there were better counters to things. Zerg need lurkers back or some better anti infantry. Once terrans get those tanks going I find that zerg usually get rocked. I've been surviving with burrowing roaches and moving half my army to surround them. Oh, and I was so pissed when I found out that OLs arent detectors.

My favorite is still protoss. I always start out with Zs and either go DTs colossus or voids to back them up depending on the game. Idk why but I always try to get a mothership, its just a fun unit.

Me too LOL! The past couple of weeks, I've been doing mostly 4v4. So, I find myself doing this:
- Start with speedlings and banelings to support my friends and fend off early rushes.
- Transition to roaches and/or mutas when they have their first wave ready.
- Switch to mutas and speedlings for map control and expansion harassment.
- I then let my friends (typically MMM+thor and VR's) kill the opponents one at a time
- While my friends are attacking I'm always all over the map looking to cutting off reinforcements
- I've been bringing in a lot of corruptors recently with all the void ray and colossi play lately.
- I still hate MMM *****. A lot harder to deal with, as I have to front with my roaches while I flank with speedlings and banelings. If they have seige tanks, I almost always retreat unless I can get some help or have broodlords. I also have to incorporate infestors in my strats.

Yep, I was also very pissed to find that I have to spend gas to morph them ol's to overseers. Grrrrreat.

Those mother ships are great....if they're from my teammates!! The damn black hole always gets me grrrrr!

I used to mainly play protoss back in broodwar days, but I've come to love the scout-react-counter play of zerg in SC2

Yeah I definitely love the speed of zerg. Roaches are great units, insane regen, fast, and can move while burrowed. I definitely love those units. You can just run away from any fight you are losing, and then be fully healed 5 seconds later. I think hydras are kind of lame now, 2 supplies is whack.

Yeah, zerg speed really helps in getting map control. I've only won one game without map control -- and that's against one protoss who oddly quit after his third attack wave failed. On 4v4, all our wins really depends on whether we get map control or not......except for the handful of times we got cheesed

2-supply hydras up on Lair tech is really wack. I've only used hydras once and that was because I was late in my first expansion (low on gas) and the zerg on the other team already had muta's. As soon as I got my expansion I switched over to corruptors.

I'm definitely all about controlling the map. My buddies like to rush one out (3v3) and then just overwhelm the remaining two. I like to expo quick and defend while harassing and stopping others from expanding. Your army will eventually become too much for a single base player and then you can just rock them, or continue to grind them out of money.

I tend to grind out terrans because their just hid on a cliff with that depot wall.

I'll be on a lot more lately as BF3 will be keeping my *** kaput in front of the screen.

My buddy also has a vent server that we use, works better and sounds clearer than the voip in game.

Can't keep up with ladder ever since they first intro'd Masters league, but I'm playing and (spending more time) watching GSL/MLG/IPL. This game is here to stay.
