I see, I am going to get the exhaust tested today and Im postive that its legal, considering my friends miata's stock exhaust even sounds louder than mine. So I just need to worry about the speeding ticket, which Ticket Assassin will help me deal with.

There are cars out there that were sold with intakes like the special edition AEM Civic directly from the dealer.
What I mean is an intake with no CARB exception number. But then maybe they only look what is relevant for the infraction. So you went to the referee and he just run the sniffer in the tail pipe? What were you going to the referee for? noise, modified exhaust...

I have not idea about the AEM Civic but it will not be street legal in CA withought an CARB number for the intake.

Cheers

You are correct, Nick. The sticker must be existent. I got pulled over as soon as I left the shop with my new exhaust. He said it looked modified, but did not even bother to see if there were any stickers or exemptions. Popped my hood too and saw the Akimoto with the CARB sticker right on top. Still sent me to the Ref. That cop is known to do this anyway. He already stopped me twice on 2 different cars that I drive. Both for exhaust.

So you had a TBE? or something else?

so for modified exhaust they smog you (sniffer) and noise test it?

LOL sorry to keep asking but I have a TBE ( TXS ) so I know sooner or later I will go through that. The original poster can benefit as well.

Thanks

Nick

That's what sucked. I was running all cats. I was only running a catback. Everything was legit. Depends on what vehicle code they use when you are given the ticket. You will either have to pay the fine or get tested depending on code.
