South bay custom plastic & aluminum fabrication
I'm trying to get some things made for my house & car as I'm prepping it to be more baby friendly. Does anyone know where i can get some stuff cut, shaved, and shaped if I design it on paper?
For example, I'm thinking of designing my own subie styled stroller and related car seat adapters.
Would be nice if there's a place can do this as a one time project, but if it requires a bigger group buy, I'd be ok with that too.

If in doubt, FLAT OUT

I think it is going to depend on how much you are willing to spend. In SJ/Santa Clara there are literally hundreds of machine/fabrication shops. Smaller shops doing small orders and/or one offs can be more expensive, but they are also more likely to work with that sort of project and actually do it as opposed to the bigger shops. A lot of shops don't want to do something like that unless you are making 1000 of something.
Contact this guy, he's a friend of a friend and he's done some work for me:

Sweet, thanks for the info. I figured there's a ton of fab places here, I've never done it before so that helps me look where to start.
If anyone else knows of a smaller shop that can do small qty, lemme know!

Depends on the extent in production stage in what you want to make. Stuff like baby stuff is often more dangerous because of safety reasons/mechanical parts. If it's for yourself, it would be fine, but if you're thinking of selling it to others, you might want to do much more testing before someone sues you because they injure themselves opening a stroller or etc.
But yeah, you might want to look into smaller fabrication shops. Making more than 10 of something might be more cost effective if you use a CNC machine. Which would require you to use 3D modeling programs on the computer. If you feel like getting handy yourself, you can check out "Tech shop" around the Bay, they have professionals and a full shop+classes included in a membership to help you with what you want to make
Good luck!
