I would have pulled you over as well and given you a ticket for being a moron.

He probably pulled you over not for speeding but going under the assumption that no one is stupid enough to pass a cop on the freeway at 1am unless they are drunk and don't see the cop.

You should go on a couple police ride alongs, it will give you a completely different outlook on their job and what they actually do. You should have respect for what they do.

Not really adding much that hasn't been said, but most cops are cool. They are human though. You do run into the occasional arsehole. Gotta realize why people work that job too. You don't disrespect their authoritie and expect to get away with it.

hey hey, we have all passed many cops who looked the other way. when you see a cop on the freeway you instinctively slow down, as do i. last night i slowed down, followed the cop for about half a minute or so, and the proceeded to pass. not in any abrupt downshifting action or anything, just cruising along. not all cops are out write a ticket. some are, some arent. just so happens i hit one that did. please dont call me a moron just because i gambled n loss... think about it, how my times have you driven by a cop where you were going over the speed limit and the cop didnt do anything about it... i bet it happens everyday.

yeah i hate people who do there ****in job
wtf?

i thank the guys in blue for putting there lives on the line EVERY DAY for ****in peanuts. i wouldent.

and for fighting it, you already droped the ball. if you had any chance you would have had to talk to the cop as hes writing you the ticket, you need to see the radar gun, and see its documentation regarding when it was last tested.

but becuase he was doing the SPEED LIMIT and you passed him, its moot. any speed between 66mph and 80mph is the same ticket and price. if its over 80 your not allowed to do the class to get the point off your record.

i think ish has a great point. +1 ish.

Cashis:

CVC 22349(a):
Except as provided in Section 22356, no person may drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than 65 miles per hour.

CVC 22356 basically says that if the DOT, after an engineering and traffic survey, discovers that a maximum speed greater that 65mph would facilitate orderly movement of traffic, they may raise the maximum speed to 70mph.

You broke the law, he decided to call you on it. I'm not seeing a problem here. I drive over 65mph on the highway, and I will gladly accept a ticket for doing so because I am breaking the law.

not going to rag on you. if you want to fight it, try ticketassasin.com like someone has suggested. Next time, just stay back... They usually get off after couple exits anyway.

That sounds pretty logical.

I've never passed by a cop who is driving at the speed limit. I don't care if other people dare to pass him and get away it. It's going to be me who has to fork over the $fines and waste my time in court and traffic school. I'd rather drive slowly and spend an extra few minutes on the road than go through all the hassle.

Chalk this one up as a lesson.

WTF, why did you pass the cop at 75? Maybe inch by the cop at 67-68 but 75!? Especially b/c you're the only car on the road. Pulling over speeder=excitement for bored cop who has run out of donuts.

Traffic cops can give a person a bad day.........But, I cannot say all bad things about them since I haven't received a ticket since the day I got my subie! (knocks on wood) .

I also hear that cops can give out this little sticker shaped like a badge, which is give out to family members to put on their drivers license. This is suppose to give them some type of free-style pass when pulled over.

Where could I get one of these stickers? Does anyone know? If they do have them somewhere, please let's do some kind of a bulk-buy for these LMAO!! That would be the sweetest!

Lol, I've noticed that Lurk has comments that seem to give me a good laugh. But in this case...you passed the cop doing 75ish (not very smart)...not a CHP...still a Peace Officer...just because he/she is a city peace officer on the highway doesn't mean thier jurisdiction is not there... police officers enforce the law...traffic laws are there....meaning it is in their jursidiction. Here's another example...A Union City police officer can cite you in Fremont if that's where you violated the law...the laws the law..
