unless the proxy communicates on a differant port, i doubt that it would help any. you've have to come in and out of the firewall on a port that is open. unless a proxy would allow you to communicate with it on something like port 80, it wouldn't do any good.

set up a proxy at your house on port 80, you can even set up a ssh server and use that to proxy via port 80 (some config chagnes would be req)

Since I understand that you are the network guy, can you assist me in setting this up? I have broadband so my pc is always running with internet on..no idea how to configure a proxy though.
