SOA is performing an ECU reflash to STi's being delivered recently, which cuts power down to 275hp.
Don't go calling all the dealerships about this, because they're not allowed to talk about this.
SOA is watching this board, so don't talk about what dealership you bring your modded car in to for service.

dude its on the intraweb it has to be real!
i wouldnt be surprised if it does knock down power a bit in the first model year.. At leat until they can develop a better fix for the issue of crappy gas.

25hp decrease in horse power? Since the ping problem occurs between 4000rpm-5000rpm(where the peak torque is...), and the peak hp is made at 6000rpm, why would SOA want to tune down the whole map instead of just concentrate on where the ping occur? I would think loss in peak torque is understandable. Either way, it still sounds like a class act is waiting to happen for false advertising unless SOA finds a way to magically keep the 300 peak torque while retarding the timing at around 4000rpm?

this rumor is 100% not true. Lets just say that.
Hell, even people with close ties to subaru say it isn't true. If you wanna see some threads about this, nasioc's STi forum has a lot of info.

Yep, there is NO WAY it would be legal to perform such a refresh without at least a public statement, and more likely an offer for cash or recall/buyback for owners (I think it was Merc who had to offer purchasers an exchange to a next-year model car for those who purchased intending to get a nav system that ended up not getting released).
There would be quite a lawsuit on their hands if this was going on.
