take everything that isn't covered under insurance off before they take your car. Generally speaking they'll cover most things that you have RECEIPTS for. If you don't have a reciept...take it off.

When it came up for me they only covered $1000 worth of extra equipment.

+1 for receipts.
Gather them up now and take off whatever you can't prove you bought.

+1 for a Doctor visit.
Regardless of how you feel, you should get checked out immediately. If you wait and find out later that there is a problem you might have a hard time making a claim.

+1 for Farmers.
If the car gets totalled you might get more than blue book. Some insurance companies will look at the average price within a certain radius that your car is currently selling. This is the amount you will receive. In some cases it is more than blue book.

I do, its sitting next to the Suby in the pics. Look close.

Also, do you guys think I should get a lawyer in this case? My brother keeps tellin me to get one to help deal with all the insurance companies/parties involved.

I'd reccomend at least talking to one, since your insurance might have to pay for the person you hit. When I knew I was gonna be rear-ended I stood on the brake pedal as hard as I could so I wouldnt hit the lady infront of me. How's your back and all feeling now?

uh huh... yea right. im sure your dad wouldnt approve of your frontin haha

you dont need a lawyer. your insurance company should be able to represent you, investigate, and take it to arbitration if needed. however, since you were the one who was rear ended, the person behind you will be found negligent.. regardless, based on california law... unless they falsify their statement and say that you intentionally stopped to cause the accident and their insurance company is stupid enough to believe that. the person who rearended him will also be negligent for failure to keep a safe distance. let the insurance companies take care of it.

I wasn't the only one rear ended. The car that hit me, pushed me into the car in front of me, then some lady in an Accord hit the car that hit me from behind. So a total of 3 cars have rear end damage. However, on the report it should show that me and the Cadillac in front of me were the only parties that were not at fault. Since we were both able to come to a full and complete stop, before getting hit by other cars.

Haha, my dad's car. Funny. How do you like your near stock '05 WRX? Maybe I'll replace mine with one. On second thought...NAAAAH.

Lawyers are the bain of insurance folks existance. They drag stuff out way longer than it needs to be. Only get a lawyer if you are getting jerked around. Lots of times, you can fight with the insurance companies on your own for a while. Of course this depends on your adjuster.

IMO, all lawyers do is make my insurance more expensive. The insurance companies have to spend extra money dealing with the lawyers and then where do you think they make that up from.

(I'm an insurance broker)

I would go to the doctors though for sure. If you hurt at all, you need to get checked out sooner than later. It looks fishy if you wait weeks. You know?

you should be good to go. no need for lawyers.

ive only had my 05 wrx for a few months. aint nothin wrong with it being near stock at the moment. it's my commuter... got parts chillin in the garage ready to be put on... but if you want, i can slap em on and embarrass your dad's M5 at the runs. just let me know...

don't buy another WRX. save your money from working at the noodle shop and buy yourself a beamer like all the other asians out there who still live at home. haha

If the insurance companies actually attempted to help their customers, as opposed to their actual practice of attempting to deny nearly everything under the sun, we wouldn't need the lawyers. Its absolutely the dickheaded nature of insurance company policies that causes the NEED to sue them for relief.

I'm glad they didn't try to say it was your fault for hitting the person in front of you. They tried to pull that crap on my Dad once. He was rearended and hit the person in front of him and they said it was part his fault for not stopping far enough back. He needed to get a lawyer, and eventually his insurance just paid for it because fighting it was more expensive.

Have fun with your EVO
