Believe it or not, there are nice cops out there, I know because I've been pulled over by them over the years... As long as you're nice and communicative, keep your hands visible, turn off your car, and just be courteous in general, then you'll usually get a good response in return.

If you're an *** the cop is going to do the same.
ROFL - perhaps your view is skewed by your affiliation.

My wife was driving up the 101 in a very lightly trafficked area north of Cloverdale - going through a mountain pass speeding along at around 95 mph - all the while commenting about the off-camber banking that the highway was constructed with, and comparing it to the autobahn.

We come out of the last turn, and are starting this straightaway when all of the sudden, coming southbound is a CHP - I tell her to simply pull over. He was stomping on his brakes to turn around, so I knew it was just a matter of time, so we saved him the effort and pulled over.

That cop was a complete a**hole, wrote her up for the entire 95MPH - and I had to sit there and bargain with him in order to get it backed down so she could attend traffic school. She'd pulled right over, had license, registration and insurance in hand, hadn't ever been pulled over for anything before, and he was just going apes**t.

BTW, there was not one other car in sight when we were driving.

So you think he should have not ticketed you for going 95MPH?

I think he should have been nicer than he was - complete a-hole, and taken into consideration that she pulled over before he'd even turned around, was being nice, had everything ready for him, etc.

What brucelee posted in an earlier thread. A cop can follow you for a couple minutes and catch you doing something wrong legitimately somewhere just to pull you over if he feels like there is a reason to check you out.

Cops can pretty much ruin your life for anything you do, I think they should be held more accountable to be consistent than to have to play the "******** or nice cop" kind of deal.

When you get a variety of cops like that, there are always some who are "I feel like catchin' a mexican/black/white today." and that's just the way it goes. But you can't figure they see everyone the same, their lives are based on judging a person.
