Unhappy Smoking issue in the engine bay

Hey guys im having a wierd issue with my 2003 WRX 2.0 liter turbo, shes smoking in the engine bay on start up, not quite sure why, its not the blue-ish white smoke people have been talking about but its white. Also, the car isnt driving quite right, as in im not sure if the smokihg probelm is the cause of this but it feels like the clutch is being smoked while its completely out.

so when you give the car gas it doesnt really "go anywhere" because it feels like the clutch or engine is being "smoked", kind of like if a new stick driver who smokes the clutch a bit when they are learning, but this happens when the clutch is fully out and being untouched in gear driving down the road. im really hoping that i could get some help because she is undrivable at the moment and its killing me not to let her loose, im sure some of us have been there, its not fun but what are we gunna do right. so, if anybody could please give me some feedback or anything i would much appreciate it becuase i absolutely need her to start running right agian.

Sounds like the clutch is completely worn and is slipping.

It's probably a bad clutch. Some clutches when they wear don't don't fully disengage.

So then do you think that the clutch issue is causing it to smoke from the engine bay?

THE CLUTCH is smoking.

It is not making anything else smoke, the smoke is coming from the clutch. You need a need a new clutch.

When it is worn, it does not grab anymore because the gripping surface is worn/glazed or gone completely. As it slips it heats up and cooks the fluid which will smoke.

I'd get it to a shop and have them check. There are a variety of things that can leak onto the exhaust and cause smoking, but since you said the clutch has issues, I'd still tend to think that's what it is. Though I would not expect that at idle necessarily. Been a while since I've had a hydraulic clutch go out, so I don't recall what it did at idle, but I knew the symptoms when driving for sure and that's what yours sounds like.
