Yes, that's the key, they are the final word. Don't have time to look it up again, but technically it is legal and per the above, they can technically disqualify it if they want to.

anyway theres a lot more http://www.bar.ca.gov/80_BARResource...egulations.pdf

Its on the last page. One thing Ive found is when it comes to BAR, the law is not up for your interpretation. What they say goes. You could argue that an intercooler isnt part of the emissions system but then theres this gem.

An intercooler helps by cooling the air and achieve greater volumetric efficiency therefore its related to air injection no?

Just swap your **** to stock and get it smogged. It literally takes a few hours. I do it everytime I have to smog my own car. Its the price we pay for modding our cars.
To my knowledge its not related to air injection. Air injection to my understanding is similar to the setup they added to the 07+ WRXs and STIs that introduces fresh air into the motor at startup etc. That whole air system thing.

There was a post here on i-club sometime ago that had the test requirements etc. from the REF that specifcially stated intercoolers are not part of the testing/consideration process since they do not control or manage emissions in any way.

Edit: Found what I was looking for. This is from the BAR Smog Inspection Manual:

Swap all my stuff back to stock? That will take me more than a few hours... and going to stock with my current map, not sure if I will break something. I know I can pass sniffer, just need to find someone that doesn't mind visual...

I seriously don't understand this idiotic rule...if it passes sniffer, why the f*ck does anything else matter? idiotic imho... only in CA. where we want to outlaw pressure cookers.

you also have a shop and lift if I'm not mistaken. thanks.

tried again.

Denied this time because odbii secondary air system 'not ready'.

not sure why.

i haven't reset my ecu anytime recently, I did remove/block off my smog pump tho.

I also read that just because it isn't 'ready', it can still be passed.

any thoughts? or am I outta luck? What to do? i hate CA.

If you have 1 monitor thats not ready on a 2001+ car, it WILL pass but the reason shops will turn you away is because even though your car passes, it counts as a red mark on the technicians record. Enough red marks = loss of license. Not that this info will make you feel any better.

You can force all readiness monitors to on with AP/tactrix.

What if you are disabling some codes with opensource, will it still show that the monitors are on? Or will it show them off since the codes are disabled?

so now I need to swap back to my stock DP, but new issue is it won't fit to my cobb cbe (I changed it to flat from donut)...

ideas? you guys think I can pass sniffer just running my perrin dp? it's got 1 cat. I'd love to just switch to my stock dp, only if it were that easy.
