/carefully places bait on hook for a certain argument.

I voted "no" and am unreligious for the most part. Never saw that one coming, huh? A semi-conservative non-christian or religious person for that matter?

No. Why change something because it doesn't go along with other peoples beliefs? It's been that way for days, and I think it should stay that way. If you don't believe in god, tough ****.

That's how it is in Europe... they show full nudity on T.V.... it offends people, but they aren't going to change things because someone doesn't like it... if you don't like it, don't watch it. If saying "Under god" offends you, then leave that part out, simple as that.

since W talks to god directly it should say "with god on our side" rather than under god, heck sometimes W. tells god what to do, I'm sure.

it should not be removed, but if it was it wouldnt change anything in my mind. i dont buy into the whole "city on hill" BS... God does not favor the US above and beyond other countries.

as a believer in christ, i think it sucks when publicity whoring Republicans politicize this, making those who believe in Christ / God look like a bunch of tools.

:and thus begins another looooong discourse with my i-friends:

Dre, call me stupid, but isn't "stay" and "go in" the pledge the same thing?

Anyway, my stance on what I think you're asking:

It should stay in the pledge. Pledging allegience offends many people in the first place. Have they taken it out of California public schools? NO. If it offends you to say "under God" like Daniel said omit it from your pledge. Jehovah's Witnesses have a problem pledging their allegience to the flag, so they don't pledge their allegience at all. I'm sure if offends some die hard American's, but that's how it goes. Simple as that.

Sometimes tradition is good and should be kept. JMO

Im not a believer but it has been in the pledge since its creation and it should stay. If you dont believe in god, contrary to popular belief it wont KILL YOU to say it, and no one is forcing you to say it anyway. Just a bunch of whiney liberal pussies...

It should Go. If you look back at the history of the Pledge of Allegiance, the original writer did not have the words "under God" in the pledge. These words were added in 1954 by congress. So it's a fairly new addition to the pledge.

Agreed. It was not in the original pedge. It was added deuring the cold war era to further differentiate ourselves from the communist nations.
