I'm not going to pass judgment one way or the other, becasue I don't feel as if I know the facts. The original post said the SF PD got a 400,000 grant, allowence, or whatever. This money could have come from some rich donor who specified the exact use it was for. Its common for money grants and donations to have a catch as to what they can be used for, and maybe this rich guys kid was involved in a street racing accident, or maybe kids are racing on his street.
Anyways, the point is, don't bash them too much, they may not have a choice how they use the funds and are just trying to implement them in the manner they feel will provide the best results while conforming to the requierments.
Just a thought, not sure if its true at all, or exactly how this all works, but hey, it could be the truth.
By the way, SF is a great city, and in all honesty I've never felt unsafe up there. And how many of you guys really want anyone racing down those streets anyways. Whether or not you feel like admitting it, its dangerous to everyone. If you want to race, keep it on the track, or at least desserted backroads in the mountains.

There you go. Go find some backroads or a racetrack.
And too bad I missed Bullet all weekend, great movie.

damn those rats
I really don't think cops will have time to carry that out. Well, at least not for a long run. They just might be too busy for this non-sense. I'm sure SF has plenty of domestic violence calls, traffic calls, robbery calls, and others since SF is such a dense city. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
no but initially, the ticket rates WILL skyrocket.
then a month or afterwards, it will start to die down, but there will still be more tickets that normal...
this is what i predict.

that sucks. i live really close to the taraval police station. atleast my car is bone stock.what are they going to do? get a 10 second supra for 80,000 dollar and go undercover?
The only guys that need to worry are the guys with the loud **** exhausts, big sti wings, ect. Before they come after any of us Subie guys, they'll take down the people with the honda egg beater fart cannons that are possitively every where.
