Exclamation SFPD modified vehicle task force

I was talking to one of my friends on the foce today and he told me about a new task force that will be cracking down on modified vehicles to see if they are running legal mods or not. They are also going to crack down on any street racing going on in SF. They have allocated some money to purchase faster cars and are going to be chasing down suspects if need be. It's going to be similar to the programs already established in Sacramento and San Diego. The city recieved a $400k grant to assemble this task force and they intend to use every penny. Word is that a few cops have already recieved training but the program will become larget in the following months. They are looking for the regular things like exhaust, tinted windows etc.
The Richmond, Taraval and Ingleside areas are going to be what they consider the hot spots. He said that they will be also going after American cars that appear to not be in compliance but he believes that the imports are going to get a bigger hit.

they really need to find something better to do. I think combatting true crime...such as assaults, muggings, rapes, theft, vandalism, and best of all murder. Get your priorities straight police!

why is it that THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO is not putting ALL THEIR ENERGY on the KILLINGS going on their streets?

instead they want to go after kids who actually found a hobby besides gang banging all over town...

weakness.

-1 for waisting money on stupid crap like this.

The reason why they're coming after (generally-speaking) law-abiding citizens is because they're easier to catch and convict, hence, it's easier to show results with this "problem." Since they apparently are incapable of accomplishing any real police responsibilities (i.e. reducing homicides and other violent crimes, keeping their cops alive etc.) they have to do something like this to show the community that they're doing their "job." So really, the better word to use is incompetent, which is what the SFPD apparently seems to be.

On a side note, I blame crap like this on all those damn ricers-maybe if all those damn honda owners and their bloody 10+ year old cars couldn't be heard from miles away, and they all didn't try to race everyone else with real cars, then maybe this wouldn't be happening.

Thank goodness I don't live in the city; looks like I'll be taking the BART from now on whenever I head out over there.

good post...

but...

i would exactly call SFPD as incompetent.

remember, the cops are just "ordered" to do things, like this crack down.

in the end, law abiding citizens does get the screw job...

if the city leaders would just do their jobs (re: new district atty wont go after the death penalty since she doesnt believe in it... instead of following the laws...), SF might be a better place to live.

plus throw in the mentality brought upon to the citizens (like reporting crimes as they happen), then how are police going to do their jobs.

man, i can go on forever, but it just makes me madder...

sigh...

probably make a lot of money when it's all said and done on citations, fines, and impound fees.

Well the thing is people such as myself who would be cracked down upon for things like exhaust, and window tint aren't law abiding citizens. We are breaking the law regardless. Its just a matter of the severity of the crime.

The idea of easy cases to win and convict....absolutely. Its much easier to show a task force is winning when its a cut and dry case such as an exhaust. Its also a very inexpensive case for the system to carry, unlike a serious crime. And yes, of course when this gets rolling SFPD is going to say they busted 300+ cars with exhaust and now the city is quieter. The city/county will make tons of money and never really have to do anything out of the norm. It pure revenue just like parking meters.

The money could be spent so much better. How about repaving some of the terrible roads?

Also take into consideration, this crackdown will likelygenerate more income in the short term than high profile life saving.... :/
