Wow. I used to live in Sf for a while and thier cops DO seem to be lazy and incompetent.
Serously, I have never seen cops there out and about patrolling the streets for real crimes.
In fact I've seen on more than one occasion while just walking down the street in the morning time, the same cop pulling over a car-- then he drives off pulls over a different one, then a different one. All on the same stretch of road. That's about the only time i seen these cops around, when they do easy bs stops like that to get it out of the way, then it seems like they hide the rest of thier shift.

I wonder how many cops are supporting this. I don't think there going be a lot, especially in a busy city like SF.

Seriously though, before moving up to the Bay Area to go to CAL (GO BEARS!) R as in Republican, R as in red state.

F... Berkeley and its stupid 25 mph speed limit everywhere, its pedestrian right of way mentality (i.e jaywalker), its .5% extra sales tax to pay healthcare for people I don't know and could care less about, and especially its entire damn liberal-population...
And a big F... to this pathetic SFPD task force.

If you hear about a high-speed chase involving a white STI, you'll, have an idea who it was running away from them-let's see them catch a car with over 300 Whp

i dunno, i'm going both ways on this topic. i understand what they are trying to do but at the same time i wish they wouldn't.
SF has a pretty good police force and i can't really sit here and bash it. i'm not saying this becasue i have a lot of friends on the force but becasue i've lived here my entire life and honestly feel pretty safe. yeah, it might not be as "safe" as a city out in the burbs but hey... its a big city with big issues with alot of people from a alot of backgrounds. our DA's haven't been the best in the past of present but they are in place and we have to deal with it.
this whole task force might be more geared toward more suburbian setting where there is actually space to street race but hey, they formed it and we should be a little more aware of the fact that they are looking for cars that are ILLEGALLY modded.

Not only it's easier to catch, but also will $$PAY$$!

So really, the better word to use is incompetent, which is what the SFPD apparently seems to be.

Dont need to catch you. You might win a chase against one car, but not 2 helicopters and a dozen CHP/PD. Either way, they've got your plate, and will eventually find you.

Edit: Not worth it.

I gotta love the "we'll buy faster cars and chase you down" aspect. Yeah, because high-speed pursuits through city streets is safe...

NFS:MW must be these guys' inspiration or something.

They can catch imports at a very low risk and actually generate money

OR

They can catch murderes/dangerous criminals at a very high risk, and if they are caught, have to PAY to have them sit in jail.....

simple logistics

Before you guys all rush to judge, consider this.

::Note I am speaking on speculation only and have no, as in zero, facts, but hey, it could be true::

I'm not going to pass judgment one way or the other, becasue I don't feel as if I know the facts. The original post said the SF PD got a 400,000 grant, allowence, or whatever. This money could have come from some rich donor who specified the exact use it was for. Its common for money grants and donations to have a catch as to what they can be used for, and maybe this rich guys kid was involved in a street racing accident, or maybe kids are racing on his street.

Anyways, the point is, don't bash them too much, they may not have a choice how they use the funds and are just trying to implement them in the manner they feel will provide the best results while conforming to the requierments.

Just a thought, not sure if its true at all, or exactly how this all works, but hey, it could be the truth.

By the way, SF is a great city, and in all honesty I've never felt unsafe up there. And how many of you guys really want anyone racing down those streets anyways. Whether or not you feel like admitting it, its dangerous to everyone. If you want to race, keep it on the track, or at least desserted backroads in the mountains.

There might be some light at the end of the tunnel here guys. The SF police department is short on officers by something like 400. There are not enough cops on the street and the Supervisors and DA's lend no support to them. It's sad for guys on the force there, but the odds might be in our favor.

SF streets are so crappy and congested. Why would you want to race around there anyway?
