I'm going with a bunch of friends this saturay. Most likely Sierra, but small chance we might hit up North Star

I'm still worried this mixed snow and rain would make for an icy slope...

shouldn't be. the snow levels have been coming down all day.

Bought 4 inches has fallen so far and the levels are gonna drop tonight and give another few inches. So figure about 7-8 inches over the top of the ice. Groomers will be bomb tomorrow. Suppose to snow on and off deep in to next week. Sat should be the best bet for tree runs as I'd guess they'll be more like a foot and a half over the ice.

Sunday should rip too.

I'd try to get next wed off if I was you guys. Wish I could. Wed should be solid just about everywhere. Couple feet built up in the secret spots and a few inches over the chopped up pow.

Snow Inbound Later This Week!!!

With snow showers predicted for this Thu, Fri & Sat... Sunday the 8th appears to be the bluebird day!!!

I won't be able to ride til Mon the 9th as I cross my fingers that I can manage to sneak up to Sierra for a day trip!

But the good news just keeps on coming...

We look busy with more storms as the west remains unsettled through mid February, this time with a possibly more zonal flow across the Pacific, allowing for a long fetch of moisture causing some possible heavy snow.
...so Prez's Holiday on Monday the 16th should be b0nkerz out there! Definitely gonna keep my finger on the pulse to hit some of that pow pow sometime that week. Let's hope they're right about more freshies during "Ski Week."

Alright... you guys know who you are. It's that time again.

Best weekend is looking like the last weekend of Feb. Weekend of 28-1.

So throw a couple weekends out there that work out for you guys. I'll check the cabin calendar and come back.

I'd like to narrow it down to 2. Try to time a storm. Get some good snow and I'd like to stretch it into a 3 or 4 day.

I think the weekend of march 14 is the only 100% no so far. Might be one or two others.

So...

Feb 28-Mar 1 weekend....

After you get back fr riding this wknd, definitely let us know which wknds are available for our annual trip!

Yay for inbound storms... both later this wk & next wknd!!!

...(FOR) WEST SLOPE NORTHERN SIERRA NEVADA-

...PERIODS OF WET AND UNSETTLED WEATHER POSSIBLE THROUGH NEXT WEEK...

A SERIES OF STORM SYSTEMS WILL BRING PERIODS OF RAIN AND MOUNTAIN
SNOW TO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WELL INTO NEXT WEEK.

THE FIRST SYSTEM IS STARTING TO SPREAD PRECIPITATION INTO THE
NORTHERN INTERIOR THIS MORNING. SHOWERS WILL INCREASE BY AFTERNOON
AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP FROM THE CENTRAL SACRAMENTO
VALLEY SOUTHWARD. IN THE MOUNTAINS SNOW WILL BEGIN AROUND 5500 FEET
BEFORE LOWERING TO 4500 FEET THIS EVENING. LOCALLY LOWER SNOW LEVELS
ARE POSSIBLE IN SOME OF THE COLDER MOUNTAIN VALLEYS THIS MORNING.
PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS ARE GENERALLY EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT TODAY.

WINTRY TRAVEL IS POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS...HOWEVER AT THE PRESENT
TIME THERE ARE NO WEATHER WARNINGS OR ADVISORIES IN EFFECT.

A SECOND SYSTEM WILL APPROACH THE CALIFORNIA COAST EARLY TOMORROW AS
RAIN AND SNOW BECOMES MORE WIDESPREAD. PERIODS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY
SNOW MAY HAVE MORE OF AN IMPACT ON TRAVEL OVER MOUNTAIN PASSES
TOMORROW. SNOW LEVELS WILL ALSO DROP TO 4000 TO 4500 FEET IN AN
INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE.
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH
LOCALLY STRONG WIND GUSTS...SMALL HAIL AND BRIEF HEAVY RAIN MAY
DEVELOP IN THE VALLEYS. EXACT RAIN AND SNOWFALL AMOUNTS FROM THIS
SYSTEM WILL BE HIGHLY VARIABLE DUE TO ITS SHOWERY NATURE. 6 TO 10
INCHES OF SNOW MAY FALL ABOVE 5000 FEET BY FRIDAY EVENING.

A BREAK IN THE WEATHER IS POSSIBLE SATURDAY. HOWEVER...EXTENDED
FORECAST MODELS ARE SUGGESTING STORMS MAY CONTINUE TO TRACK INTO
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WELL INTO NEXT WEEK.
A COLD FRONT IS CURRENTLY
FORECAST TO MOVE THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY...WITH ANOTHER ONE
POSSIBLE LATE TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY.
