Was up by bear valley and up over the pass over 9k feet and there isn't ANYTHING back there. Scattered bits and what not but it looks like june or july up there. Gorgeous.
Suppose to get some good stuff mid/late week so hopefully it'll change over and we'll actually see winter now and not have another week of heat pop up.

anybody drive to the snow with kumho ASX's?
my new tires only have a couple thousand miles on them. I bought a 2nd set of wheels that I was going to put snow tires on, maybe blizzaks, but if my ASX's work, then I can save a bit of money

SUMMARY FOR THE WEEK -//> We have a closed low pressure system offshore (near 30N~was 32N, and 128W~was 133W this morning), with a relatively mild southerly flow of moisture and clouds beginning to feed up from the south. This now modified storm is expected to move in tonight with rain and snow showers. Snow levels are expected to be between 6,000 and 7,000 feet tonight and through Wednesday night. Scattered showers are possible into Thursday morning, with light storm snow totals. It is looking like this storm may be followed by a fast moving cold system on Friday, but there is low confidence in this so far. This weekend looks like it will dry out, with near to above average temperatures.
LONG RANGE FORECAST -//> We dry out over the weekend. Next week looks dry under sunny skies. Near average temperatures are expected for now, with limited snowmaking potential (early next week we could actually see really good snowmaking potential if the pattern is more amplified than currently shown, with colder north winds the result...we will watch).

All we can hope for is that the temps stay cool enough for the resorts to get buck wild w/ the snowmaking & rebuild that base.I still have Fri, 12 Dec, locked in as my first chance to shred. Keep hope alive! So keep up w/ those early season rituals, y'all!
I'll take the "crowds" @places like Bear anytime during the holidays or other peak days.
It'll surely be much worse at the more "popular" resorts. A few years back, I rode Bear on Dec 28th or 29th. Sure, it wasn't the typical ride-down-hop-right-back-on, but the 5-to-10-min wait was nothing compared to the half hour B.S. found @the bigger spots. Hell, I rode Dodge on New Year's Eve last yr. While I was surprised how full & hectic the lot & base area looked w/ all the families & whatnot, we didn't wait for more than a couple minutes for chairs where all the real fun was going down.
Awww... damn! Did I let another secret slip out?

I have and didn't really have any problems. Just drive a little more cautiously then you would if you have dedicated snow tires.
