^ you're brave. It's going to be cold up there.

Kirkwood is making snow 24/7 and planning on opening Solitude tomorrow, wind permitting. I can't wait!!

snowboarding wax, from what i have found, doesnt really matter too much. go to a smaller quality board shop and they will have the right stuff, or advice for what to get if it matters.

You do it yourself? it saves a lot of money that way

Wax: One-Ball-Jay

Temp range: All-temp; unless it's spring then you can use summer wax.

For best performance wax every time you go, but every other will suffice (hot wax preferred).*

Of course if you're riding powder it doesn't matter as much...

*This is of course if you want to be fast

Brody up @SierraSnowboard made this a couple years back...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDRoKCAFtX8
It's pretty thorough & essentially what I've been doing for years.

Then I came across this one last week...

Before I head up next week, I'm gonna try out some of the techniques I've heard of during the off-season and saw on these vids: (1) the "pre-crayon" technique both guys used; (2) the "paint" (versus dripping) technique Koji used, esp. since this snowboard instructor mentioned last month that it saves a ton of wax; and (3) the "wax paper" dealio Koji used. I'll let y'all know how they work out.

As far as temperature-ratings, I simply use an all-temp wax. I don't race or compete, so it's not super critical. Plus, the Sierras are pretty consistent for the most part.

Happy Sliding!

The video is pretty solid info...I've used the "dripping" method for 18 years and it's been fine...never tried the wax paper or the painting method.

You def. want to use a iron on pretty much the lowest setting and move it around a lot...never sit it in one place for very long at all. The purpose of heating the base is to let the wax into the pours of the base. Wax-on-Wax-off-Brush it down! GO FAST!
