yeah the GX470's engine is awesome, i wouldn't be surprised if it went for 500,000 miles. it's extremely torquey but not very powerful at the top end, pretty much runs out of breath by 4500rpm but it's a truck engine, so that's expected.

that's okay...

at 4500, i'm not gonna care.

i have around 150:1 final drive ratio (at the lowest) and if the torque converter locks up, double that...

i like to crawl...

only thing retarded about the engine is the fact that it wants premium. sure, it would run on 87, but apparently the performance degrades. i'm sure it wouldn't hurt anything, though, right? mileage maybe? now that i'm not towing anything, could it get by on 87 or just f*** it and run 91 and pay the extra $6/fillup ($.30 premium * 20 gals)?

does TRD make a super charger for it?

all of us 3vz-e owners want the newer 5vz series engine to swap in due to more power and the TRD SC available for it.

if this sucker... is this the i-force engine?

if this sucker can have an added power adder, goody...

DON'T SUPER CHARGE A LEXUS ENGINE. They are tuned different than their regular Toyota counterpart. Trust me, I've looked into this and have also talked to Lexus and independent mechanics. It's not a good idea for those engines, bottom line. You're better off getting an older Tundra motor and super charging that.

could you please tell us a little bit more about the difference between the lexus version of the toyota engine that goes in the tundra? is it in the ECU or are the engines physically different (compression ratio etc.)?

To be honest I didn't get into that detail. But I know a guy who has a Tundra from around 1999-2001 that's super charged and he can lay rubber through second. I think there are different compressions in the engines. You could easily find this out on the Toyota and Lexus websites.

1. Threadjack

To take over the content of a message thread by changing the subject of discourse to a topic outside the purview of the original subject and/orforum, while maintaining the subject line. A form of amusement for trolls. Threadjacking is distinguished from flaming, as flames are a quasi-personal attack on a poster or on a poster's style of discourse, where threadjacking is deliberatly steering the discussion offtopic.
