road hazard protection

So one of my tires has a slow leak and I'm really sure it isn't on the side wall so it is fixable.
It made me start thinking though... What IF there happened to be a puncture on one of my sidewalls? My tires have about 30% tread left. If one tire was to be repaced wouldn't that kill a diff or two? Would the shop I bought the tires from have to replace all 4 tires?

With 30% tread left, differentials would be a concern. The tread depth tolerances should be in your owners manual. Whether or not the hazard protecton would cover all 4 tires would depend on the specific wording and whatnot, you'd have to check with the shop. My initial reaction, however, would be to say that you would probably end up paying for 3 new tires, the fourth being covered under the hazard protection, just one of the caveats of AWD.

Depends where you got your tires. I know at America's Tire Co. they only replace the one tire, and due to AWD, they're gonna tell you that you have to buy 3 more. One downfall of AWD... which is why I always find a tire w/ a mileage warranty though for snow tires, that's impossible.
