So I have an appointment to register my car tomorrow at 9am. I just noticed on the DMV website in the list of items I need to bring, one thing is: Provide an odometer mileage certification (If your vehicle is less than 10 years old).

Does anyone know WTF this is and where to get it? I am going to be pretty pissy if I can't register my car tomorrow because of this. Anyone moved here recently that can shed some light on this subject?

 

Hey brotha, I typed it up in google and this is what I came up with. From what it sounds like...it's for a some one buying your car...didn't mention anything about registering it from out ot state...

When you go to the site, make sure you bring all that stuff with you, all the information is disclosed there and if you have further questions, there is an 800 number there that you can call.

 

I brought mine from Vancouver and all i had to do was provide anytime of previous insurance and smog. Even if your car is new. If it's out of state you have to smog it.

 

Thanks for lookin out!! I googled the heck out of it and found nothing. Turns out it's just that they want you to fill out the form including the odometer section!!!

It's listed on the dmv website as a separate line item. No probs at the DMV today at all, and it only took about 30 minutes. No more Hawaii plates, but the upside is no more rainbows on my car (HI plate has a rainbow).

This page: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/osreg.htm is where I saw that item, 5th line down under "how do I register my..." Odd.
