New York State enhanced Vehicle Inspection

As of 12/1/2004, even upstate, (outside the 5 boroughs of NYC) has an emissions inspection that includes hooking up to the OBD II port and checking the MIL (a/k/a CEL). Does any one have any expierence with this yet. I am considering an up-pipe and just passed the test, but next year.... No, I do not want to remove and reinstall it so save the band width and our time on that one.

Thanks

If you have the CEL fix in place (2.2k @ 0.5w resistor across the hardness), you wont get any CELs.

When I did my uppipe I accidently broke the tip off the egt probe, so I just screwed it back in and drove it for a few days. No cel. But I drove over to radioshack and picked up a pack of resistors to be on the safe side. The only cel I got was the 420 rear cat. So I fiddled around for a while with a mechanical 02 sensor fix and It seems to have worked. Check out the sti uppipe. Either way, If you do the egt fix you'll be cool.We have the same enhanced smog here in cali and the obd2 supposedley doesn't detect the cel fix since it still sees the same signal.
