You guys are all going to die of stress.

Bay Area traffic sucks, I agree, but instead of working myself up over it, I'm just moving.

Same thing going south - as soon as you pass Millbrae, you're in stop and go, but then around 92/Hillsdale, it opens up again. Plus, all that construction went on in that area to do what, build a freakin' larger shoulder? Are they serious???
i answered this two posts above yours it's that concrete construction barrier.

I thought it might be that, but it makes no sense - 4 lanes is 4 lanes, regardless of whatever might be on the SIDE of the road.... If there were a teddy bear on the side of the road, would that make people slow down from 70mph to 15mph also?

Since a post already brought up High Traffic spots I'll add another one. During the evening commute home from Fremont (Durham Road) up the Sunol Grade into the start of Pleasanton (past Highway 84). Someone please explain What the **** is up with the Fast Lane being Stop-and-Go traffic, yet the Slow Lane is moving freely the whole way?

I did this as an experiment at one point just to see what would happen. At the top of the Sunol Grade on the way back down it is 4 lanes and merges back in to 3 lanes at the bottom section heading Northbound. I sat in the middle lane. The Fast Lane was Stop-and-Go, the middle lane was moving slowly (Stop-and-Go as well, but faster than the Left Lane) and the right lane was also going in a Stop-and-Go manner. I decided to back off the car in front of me while driving in the middle lane instead of riding the person's bumper. I drove 25 mph while the person in front would get up to about 35-40 mph, then stop, then go again. I maintained a distance back going at the same speed. I managed to maintain the constant speed all the way from the top of the Sunol Grade all the way through to Pleasanton where the traffic opened up and I was able to get back up to normal freeway speeds.

The whole time I was driving like that I never passed an accident or a cop or any type of road hazard. It literally was just people deciding they felt like taking more time to get home. Personally, I was a WHOLE LOT HAPPIER driving slightly slower, but maintaining a constant speed through the traffic vs bumper-to-bumper stop-and-go traffic.

**** yeah man

F prius drivers. And mercedes drivers. And f'ing accord drivers.

Only in the freaking bay area is it faster to drive in the right most lane. I see these f-tards immediately cutting people off to be in the left-most lane, JUST TO FREAKING SLOW DOWN! Talk about backwards!

And then you have another clueless driver who realizes they will nearly miss their exit because they are cruising slowly in the fast lane, and CUT THREE LANES OVER WITHOUT SIGNALING to exit! And have the freaking nerve to flip the bird to whoever honks at them.

Bay Area drivers must have learned to drive in a parking lot. That's the only way anything makes sense.

Add Corolla drivers to the list. Anytime there is someone driving like a moron, 9 times out of 10 they're driving a Corolla. I swear the Toyota dealerships must be offering some tutorial on how to drive like Ray Charles with every Corolla purchase.

Yep, headlights AND foglights on while driving on a bright, sunny day, and no lights or parking lights only at night. It boggles the mind.

Unfortunately that's about all it takes to get a license around here...

1)Getting on the freeway: Its a onramp, hit the ****ing gas! Look Mr prius, I know your pile of **** can't go too fast, but you can stomp on the go peddle and get on the freeway at at least 60. Merging at under 40 is unacceptable, and is the reason why people like me get road rage...MOVE.
to add:

1.2) When merging, its YOUR responsibility to find a space to merge into and match traffic's speed....we're already ON the highway, YOU merge with US. Don't just pull into my lane expecting me to hit the brakes and avoid your dumb-***.

I personally think this is what causes 50% of the traffic on 101....you know, the kind where you're like, "oh wow, traffic is bad, there must be an accident." Then traffic just speeds up for no apparent reason....yeah, that's slow-*** drivers screwing up traffic when they merge at 45mph.

I assume you mean day time running lights on your STI which don't run as bright as your actual headlights and don't affect your tail lights.

Leaving you're headlights on during the day is not only pointless, it also wears out your head lights AND tail lights. And people dumb enough to unknowling drive all day with their lights on sure as hell aren't going to be replacing their dead bulbs.

..... plus, it just looks ****ing ridiculous.... especially on a Prius which is easily the most usual suspect for this

seriously, when i see that happen, i just want to speed up and honk at them with my supertones to scare them back in their lane for thinking they are king of the road.

since not being a bay area native, you realize how many idiot drivers there are.

my pet peve de-jour has been people swerving over into the lane left of them when someone in front of them is going slower...and then NEVER getting back over. Yes, the person in front of you was going slow, but YOU are also going slow. get the hell back over

add camrys and civics and...basically any other japan-econo car.

And those stupid ****tards who decide to suddenly change in your lane 20 ft from your bumper when you are CLEARLY ACCELERATING.
