Quick question (out of place I know)

Hey folks,
I posted this in Trany discussion area but got no responses. I thought it would be a little more pro-active here.

I changed my Trany oil as per instructions on Scubymods. All went well, except my trany dipstick reads really high. Like 3/4 of an inch over the full indicator.

My car is a 02 WRX 5spd. I put no more than 3.8 quarts in it. When I drained it, it seemed as though all the old oil came out.

Is there a trick to reading the tranny oil or should I just drain it out until the oil comes to the full indicator on the stick?

Thanks

For a manual it should read it w/ the engine off, cold and on level ground.
