Question for those with children, boys in particular
So my wife is 8 months pregnant and we are heading to Valley Care hospital in Pleasanton cause that's what my insurance covers. It turns out that this hospital no longer performs a circumcision. From what I heard, it always takes place at the time of birth. So they told us that we have to talk to our Pediatrician that we pick. Our pediatrician said they will perform a circumcision at the 2 week appointment. 2 weeks??!!!!!!!!! What the hell kind of nonsense is this.
Anyone on here who has had a boy somewhat recently, how long did you have to wait to have your baby boy circumsized?

I have a 4.5 year old son now, and it was peformed 3 days after he was born (but this is b/c he was in NICU for those days). Generally its performed within 24-48 hrs of birth.
I would not wait the 2 weeks.....AND ITS EFFING BRUTUAL TO WATCH (not like sickening, just very barbaric and sad to see your child whail in pain) but I still believe it should be done. Besides who remembers that being done to themselves...........NOBODY

its really quite common for them to go up to 2 weeks before having it done !! wait untill you have to pull it back after its tried to re attch its self!!! he will cry just comfort him....

I don't have a boy, but my buddy's son had it done at the 2 week appt for the same reason - the hospital didn't do them. No problems. It's brutal, but like Noah said, he ain't gonna remember it.

my son had a cyst at the time of birth. I felt it would be a bit cruel to do the circumcision after the cyst went away so i never got him cut after that. He is now 7. The only thing I really had to do is educate him about the need to be very clean in that area for obvious reasons.
Just an FYI, they circumcise boys at around age 13 in the Philippines- and that's with dirty *** tools.
He'll feel the pain, but I suppose he wouldn't get traumatized at 2 weeks.

well this is what they strap them down to:

and this is the tool used, its like a bell shaped dome and it covers the tip...which they then take a scalpel and cut the excess skin around the bell....its effed up and barbaric like i said but again, not going to remember it...and I couldn't see not doing it

a day or so after birth is usually the way it's done but I have had several friends have it done at two weeks due to the same issue you are facing. They didn't like it either way but way less trama then when I saw it done to my nephew at almost 2 I felt so bad for him. He took it much worse than the two week olds I saw done.

Yeah, I don't know what I would do if we had a boy. Not sure I could get him clipped.
