A question(rant) for all you lowballers out there...

[rant]Okay, how come when I post something for sale for, oh say, $500 I always get a couple lowballers that write me and say...

"How about I give you $400 CASH."

And they emphasize the 'cash' part like it was some big bonus for me, like Im sitting here saying to myself. "Ooh, cash! I sure am sick of taking food stamps for all the stuff I sell!"

Isnt it implied when we post a classified ad with a price we expect to be paid in cash? What the hell other form of currency would we be expecting to conduct the transaction in?

it's a DOG EAT DOG world out there...

i always try to ask for a BUY IT NOW price...

sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt...

as for the CASH part, some people dont want a paper trail. either via paypal or with like a check.

as the old saying goes, CASH IS KING...

I hate that ish.

just ask politely if you'd lower the price...don't be pullin' out the "CASH" bit and the "I can get it on the internet for $150 less, but I wanna help an i-clubber out" lines.

It's called capitalism. That combined with a huge diversity of culture, backgrounds and personalities means some people want to haggle more than others. Just deal...pun intended.

I am so with ya. I hate that crap. I made an ad for my '03 WRX selling it including all the extras plus the 100k/6yr warranty a few months ago. I was advertising it for several hundred below kbb "private party" price and a grand less than the next stock example of my car in the ads, and stated that I am the original owner, have really cared for the car etc but have decided to sell it. What do I get? One liners from people with bad grammar such as: "ill give you 15k for the car" and other fun stuff.

In the grand scheme of things, unless you REALLY need to sell your item quick, these fellows are just showing you a new way to say "hey I'm a moron, are you a moron too?" It gets old, but it's as harmful to you as a retard peeing on himself.

I haggle for EVERYTHING. Life is haggling. I Don't lowball, if i think a price is fair, and I think the other persons is a little high, I make my offer. If you're selling something for X and you are offered .8x thats still in the ballpark. What I don't understand is the true lowballers, like when I was selling my converted headlights of of my accord. I was asking $700(got $650, had abut $1000 invested, the housings were $250, I had retrofitted bosch ECE projectors with ultinons) and I had quite a few jackasses pull, "well I only gots $200, is that enough?" uhh let me think about that....ummm.... How about you take your $200 and fornicate far afield.

Haggling is part of life, but I will agree real low ballers suck!

Oh Jeremy, you can cry on my shoulder any time. Don't worry about it daug. People are just looking out for themselves and you shouldn't sweat it.

Good plan. I plan to sell my ecutek soon, I should ask $53,459.67 and see what happens.

Personally, I think someone saying "Hey I want X amount for my ____" and another person looking at it, offering less if they think it's less or taking it if they think it's a good deal is a good way to do things. I don't reply to people who send a one liner "offering" tons less with no specific questions about the item because obviously - they are not looking for that specific item, they are looking for a sucker. I have been a sucker before in these situations, but only because I try to be a nice guy. I guess the point of this is it sucks when those jerks out there ruin it for the rest of us. Like so many other things!!

I think you guys misunderstand me, I dont mind haggling, its part of the process, but I think the more effective and courteous way to go about it would be...

"I can get you $400 for these but thats as much as I can spend on it right now, if that doesnt work I understand, thanks! "

adding the 'cash' thing to the end as some sort of bonus just insults your intelligence. WE ALL USE CASH TO BUY THINGS PERSON TO PERSON ON THE CLASSIFIEDS!

It seems subaru guys are among the cheapest freaks in the world. I only post to sell things on this site sometimes just as a test.

Reminds me of the skit with Chris Rock: $2.00 for a soda? Good lord that's alot of money... How about I give you a .50 cents and you let me suck the bubbles out?
