Congrats Matt! And while this may have seemed like a big decision now, it's going to seem trivial after a year+ of actual parenting .

ask your wife... it looks better and feels better, medical reasons are the extra benefits. hook your son up, he will thank you later!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! We are in the same boat, but had no idea we would be here. Our son was born on Valentine's day. Confirmed 3x that this was going to be a girl, due on 2.26, turns out - even these days, surprises can happen. The doctor actually said "Uhh... um.. we have ***** here." I was excited to be having a girl, and now I am excited to have a boy. They asked us if we wanted him circumcised and we were like... "uhhh... what?" Just sort of stunned.

From what I understand - you nailed it with the medical benefits side, and if you really do want to have it done - then it's far healthier to wait around 5-7 days. For us, we hope to raise the sort of son who won't feel bad if a bunch of dudes who are looking at his dick need to try to make him feel bad because they don't know what to do with something different. I had to shower in group showers starting in middle school and I don't really remember a lot of dick talk either way. If there were kids looking at my dick in the shower then - hey. Alright, I mean at least they had something to talk about I guess. The only thing I remember was spending time finding ways to see into the girls' showers...

Awesome congrats! Crazy how it was confirmed girl but you got a boy. Sometimes the baby is in a position that the ultrasound can't pick up. For us, they confirmed boy a coupe times but I was always ready for an unexpected surprise baby girl.

So wow, you were really put on the spot about the circumsision! Sure is weird being asked if you want to cut off part of your newborn baby's junk.

My sons pediatrician is the one who did the circumcision. The hospital didn't have any say in the matter because he changed their policies. He said the children are more stable at 2 weeks old so that's when we had it done.
